While we’re still counting down the days to be reunited with BTS, we can’t deny that, as ARMY, we have truly been fed. Now, RM will be serving up a new dish of content in the form of a new solo documentary, and we are genuinely so stoked!
Following in the footsteps of several of his members, RM has worked on a documentary that focuses on his solo release. Right People, Wrong Place follows from the post-release of the rapper’s debut album, Indigo, and documents the creation of his second album, Right Place, Wrong Person, during the countdown to his military enlistment in December 2023. The documentary gives us an up close and personal look at the legendary artist at work as he puts his experiences and emotions under the microscope to create his new album. We will see the K-Pop leader portraying his distinctive sensibility and beliefs through a sincere outlook of feeling out of place and a stranger. We absolutely love this record and are excited to get a behind-the-scenes look at its production!
The documentary is directed by Lee Seokjun (producer of j-hope’s ‘Arson’ and ‘MORE’ music videos). It follows RM through the cities of Seoul, Tokyo, and London, where the album’s visuals were captured while looking into his vision as an artist.
Even more exciting is that the documentary has been picked to premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival and is the first film focusing on a K-Pop artist to be officially selected for the “Open Cinema” section at Asia’s largest film festival. This puts a spotlight on new works of artistic excellence and an array of international appeal at a large-scale outdoor screening at the Busan Cinema Center.
For those of you (including us) who won’t be able to make it to the BIFF, worry not because it has been confirmed that Right People, Wrong Place will have a theatrical release later this year. We can hardly wait! We’ve been thinking about everything we’d love to see in the documentary and thought we’d share some of the things we’re hoping we’ll get…
A Look At The Songwriting Camp
RM worked with a number of talented people to create this album and participated in writing all 11 tracks. Knowing that there was such a strong team behind the album’s production and how incredible of an artist RM is, we’d love to get a glimpse of the songwriting camp that was held to work on Right Place, Wrong Person!
Moments Of Normality
Whenever we get this kind of content, we absolutely love getting to see the BTS members being human and domestic. They are huge stars, and the vast majority of the content we watch is them being famous, so it would be really nice to see some moments of RM being just Kim Namjoon, whether it’s going Namjooning or going to some sort of convenience store while traveling for the album. Getting to see those humane moments is comforting and refreshing to see.

An In-Depth Look At The Creative Process
We all know how much of a genius RM is, and we’d love to get to witness this up close during the documentary. It’d be great to be able to get a fly-on-the-wall view of the creative process and truly get to see his beautiful, wrinkly brain at work. Whether it’s coming up with concepts for the songs or storyboarding the music videos, we’d love to see this multitalented music major hard at work!
Team Dynamics
We know that some amazing people worked on the album alongside Joon, so we think it would be really nice to see him bonding with the team and seeing the type of dynamics he has with each person. Getting to know the people working on the artwork makes it feel a little bit more personal and special, and we’re so sure they have a healthy shared relationship.
We can’t wait until RM hits the big screen!
