B5 Stole Our Heart And Won’t ‘Give It Back’

Calling B5 Army members and Honey Bees! If you grew up in the 2000s and 2010s you might’ve heard of the R&B group B5! Well, we know the B5 Army knows all about them. Whether you’ve heard of them or not, we have great news. B5 IS BACK and they’re here to stay! They released a brand new song titled ‘Give It Back’ on June 17, 2024. On September 6, 2024, they released the music video for the single. We have the details about their latest release and will share our favorite lyrics from the song.

Who is B5?

B5 includes group members and brothers Dustin, Kelly, Patrick, Carnell, and Bryan. The TNT Boyz was the group’s original name. It wasn’t until Bryan joined the group that they changed their name. The name B5 means Breeding 5, Breeding being the brother’s last name. One could say that they were the new millennium’s version of The Jackson 5, which wouldn’t be far off. Their 2005 debut single ‘All I Do’ was a cover of The Jackson 5’s ‘All I Do Is Think of You.’

They released two albums, B5 in 2005 and Don’t Talk, Just Listen in 2007, during their early days. They took a hiatus a little after their second album, only returning with two more songs in 2013. While many thought they were back, they took another hiatus. However, that wasn’t the end of B5. They returned as a group with a new single in 2018, followed by another one in 2019. Between then and 2024, in 2020, they were a surprise guest on The Millennium Tour when the tour hit Atlanta. The B5 Experience Tour was their most recent tour, where they gave fans an intimate experience where they could also meet the group. They have a few performances left to put on before the year ends. Behind The Song

A girl stole B5’s heart and won’t ‘Give It Back.’ We can say the same thing about them. They stole our hearts and won’t ‘Give It Back.’ Are we complaining? No! We’re enjoying the group’s first comeback single. The song explores the themes of love and heartbreak. The track finds the group singing about a girl they were in a relationship, but in the end, the girl had since moved on. Or at least that’s what it seems like during the intro and outro of the song.

Lyrics Breakdown

She said she wanted me forever
She where she wanna be

Dustin kicks off ‘Give It Back’ with the first verse. He sings about how the girl he’s with, or should we say previously with, was so deeply in love that she saw a future for them. Based on the intro,

If you take my heart you take my life from me (uh oh)
That ain't right, no that ain't right

Carnell takes on the pre-chorus the first time, while Bryan takes it on the second time. Both Breeding brothers start by letting the woman he’s seeing know what would happen if she were to leave (or cheat on) him while they’re together. He makes it clear how wrong it would be and how it would break him.

Ooh just give it back to me
You stole my heart from me
You took your love from me

During the chorus, the five members come together once again since the intro. While we don’t have a clear indication of what happened, we know by the lyrics something did. We could sit and think the woman simply up and left them, but we can also believe that the woman cheated. Regardless, something happened where their heart was taken from them. They made it clear how much they don’t appreciate it happening to them, and we can’t say we blame them.

You tell me you want me forever
I can give a little, I can't give my all

The second verse of the song is Patrick’s for the win. The verse shares some similarities with the first, but unlike the first verse, Kelly sings about not wanting something one-sided. He lets the woman know that if she wants to be with him, she’ll show him how much she means. He’s not trying to play any games, and while he could put everything into what they have, she has to put in just as much effort as she wants from him. We can’t blame him for telling it like it is and how it should be!

‘Give It Back’ Music Video

We’ve said it several times before, but one thing we love about this place is a simple music video. We love the thought of many people being on camera, lots of visuals, etc. However, when people do something simple for their songs, it goes a long way for us, just like any other video. We say it to say B5 decided to go this route for their ‘Give It Back’ music video.

B5 is displayed on screen for a few seconds at the beginning before fading into the background. Soon after we see a few women grooving to the beat, it’s the only time we see them. Next, the group is in a dimly lit room. They’re ready to give fans, new and old, an unforgettable experience. The group showcases their singer and dance moves throughout the video. While we see the group together most of the time, they have moments where the spotlight is individually on each member.

We can’t wait for more.
