Red in Tooth and Claw By Lish McBride

For our first October audiobook recommendation, we’re highlighting Lish McBride’s new YA horror, Red in Tooth and Claw! It’s perfect if you want to listen to a spooky audiobook and get in the Halloween spirit. Red in Tooth and Claw follows teenager Faolan Kelly, who disguises herself as a young man to avoid being married off to a stranger. Living in a remote settlement full of mystery and monsters, trouble seems to follow Faolan as she starts to look for ways to escape and uncovers some dark secrets.

Lucy, Uncensored By Mel Hammond & Teghan Hammond

This next October audiobook really blew us away with its true-to-life transgender representation. Lucy, Uncensored tells the story of Lucy, a trans teenager looking for a fresh start in college. While her original plan was to attend a prestigious theater program an hour away from home, her campus tour disappoints. Lucy finds an LGBTQIA+ friendly women’s college in another state, and her road trip there with her best friend Callie opens up a whole new world she never knew could exist — one where she could write her own story and come out on her own terms.

Sixteen Minutes By K.J. Reilly

Finally, we recommend the audiobook for K.J. Reilly’s new speculative YA novel, Sixteen Minutes! Three teenagers, Nell, Cole, and Stevie B find their whole world turned upside down when a new girl named Charlotte arrives at school. Charlotte comes from the future, and she apparently has a cure for Cole’s sister’s chronic lung condition. The impossible becomes possible when Cole travels with Charlotte to the future. And this trio learns that their purpose in life and the universe is more important than they knew.
