JLS fans, do we have a treat for you! Aston Merrygold recently headlined the O2 Sheperds Bush Empire in London and we got a front-row seat. Since the band’s inception, we have gotten incredible music from JLS and solo music from Aston over the past decade. It’s really the best of both worlds. Aston began his solo career with his debut single ‘Get Stupid’ in 2015, which is an undeniable banger. Hearing it live had us on the floor, shaking every body part that could shake.
‘Sweat’ and ‘You Chose Me’ are up there with our favorite performances of the night. We’ll tell you one thing for sure, Aston knows how to pull out the theatrics for a show. He emerged from a cloud of smoke, and if that isn’t a dramatic entrance, we don’t know what is. Decked out in a suit and tie, with a light-up microphone stand, he knows how to make the audience pay attention and swoon.
With a very small space between Aston and the crowd, it felt like a very intimate show. Especially during his dance breaks… if you don’t know, get to know! We all know he’s got a bit of a history in dance, from his time in JLS with the choreographed music videos and staging, to his time on Strictly Come Dancing. So… were we surprised when he busted out those moves? Absolutely not. Were we shocked? Yes, yes we were. Shocked, impressed, and simply in a trance.
Aston Merrygold pulled out all the stops when it came to his performance in London. From dance breaks to killer vocals to funky mic stands and an entire team of talent on stage with him, it was an unmissable show, and hearing the crowd sing back so loudly is always impressive.

‘One Night in Paris’ deserves its own moment as it was hot and heavy really early in the show. It was the first dance break, and we didn’t have a moment to prepare. Forget Paris; we’ll spend one night in London with Aston any day. Don’t take it personally, Paris; we still love you.
