The Cursed Rose By Leslie Vedder

The first 2024 fantasy we’re featuring is The Cursed Rose by Leslie Vedder. In this thrilling conclusion to the Bone Spindle series, we followed Shane, Fi, Briar, and Red as they faced impossible odds and deadly enemies. There were fast-paced action scenes that made us hold our breath in anticipation. We loved the epic relic-hunting adventures that reminded us of The Bone Spindle, with haunted tombs and ancient magical objects, we loved following the group as they pieced together puzzles. With romances that made our hearts melt, The Cursed Rose was a perfect finale!

Dragonfruit By Makiia Lucier

If you’re looking for an action-packed fantasy book filled with plot twists, then you have to read Dragonfruit by Makiia Lucier! We instantly loved all of the intriguing characters and wanted to know each of their stories. The setting was beautifully written and we felt that we were there alongside Hanalei and Sam. One of our favorite aspects was the magic system, it felt so unique and unlike any other fantasy book we’d read before!

Burning Crowns By Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber

Our next favorite 2024 fantasy is Burning Crowns by Catherine Doyle and Katherine Webber. It’s the third and final book in the Twin Crowns trilogy. And honestly, we have a hankering to reread the entire fantasy series, because it’s that good! In book three, the twin queens of Eana, Wren and Rose, must find a way to break their ancestor Oonagh’s curse, even if it means sacrificing everything they’ve worked toward. It’s equally romantic as it is epic, and we’re still not over Wren’s love triangle!

Celestial Monsters By Aiden Thomas

Aiden Thomas’ Celestial Monsters is another one of our favorite fantasies from 2024! It’s the second book and conclusion to The Sunbearer Duology (we’re noticing a pattern here). Celestial Monsters stole our hearts with its queernormative world inspired by Mexican mythology. The diverse representation is key, and the characters are all so lovable. We rooted for Teo and Aurelio from the beginning, in their mission to save the world and their romance. And we held out hope for Xio’s redemption arc. Trust.
