Storytelling and passion are at the heart of half•alive’s live shows. Every movement, beat, and lyric comes together to create more than just a concert—it’s an artistic playground where fans are free to move, feel, and fully immerse themselves in the vibrant world the band has built. At their recent Boston stop, we witnessed firsthand how intentionally half alive latest and newest album, ‘Persona’, was brought to life on stage. With support from two standout acts, mehro and The Walters, the night was packed with energy, emotion, and unforgettable moments. Here’s what went down
Mehro

Mehro—pronounced like “marrow”—is a hauntingly beautiful presence on stage. With well-crafted songs and captivating vocals, he leans into a moody vibrance that few artists can pull off so effortlessly. Watching him live felt like flipping through a cinematic playlist—every track rich with emotion, yet delivered with an energy that filled the room. Performing fan favorites like “pirate song” and “you’re so pretty,” he had the crowd gently swaying along. Despite the weight of his music, Mehro’s light-hearted humor added warmth to the set, making the space feel intimate and grounded. And even after his opening set, he stayed behind to meet fans, hand out posters, and take photos—proof that he’s not just an artist on the rise, but also one already deeply connected to honoring his audience.
The Walters, How We Love You So

We love a good surf-rock, jort-wearing hype band in the mix—and The Walters fully delivered. Their sound feels like pure summer: upbeat, romantic, and electrifying. Frontman Luke Olson had the whole crowd on their toes, running across the stage, dancing, and screaming (honestly, we should’ve been screaming with him). The band kept the energy high from start to finish, making the most of every second on stage. You’ve probably heard their viral hit ‘I Love You So’ if you’ve spent any time on TikTok, but their entire set proved they’re far more than just one song. Between songs, they made time to connect with the crowd—narrating their tuning breaks and tossing in playful banter that made the show feel even more personal. Not a single dull moment, which makes looking back on their set all the more exciting.
Half Alive Always Delivers

Where do we even begin? half•alive’s concept album came to life through a sleek, intentional, and performative set design that felt like stepping into the band’s own mind. Every detail, from the lighting to the choreography—was meticulously crafted to reflect the thoughtfulness behind their world-building. The show opened with their characters, or personas, welcoming fans into this universe before lead singer Josh Taylor, drummer Brett Kramer, and bassist J. Tyler Johnson joined the stage, launching into ‘Persona.’

Surprise moments like a stage dive from the band and a live version of ‘RIP’ featuring Luke from The Walters had our jaws on the floor. Every transition, every beat, every movement was perfectly timed. But what made the experience even more special were the fans—genuine, grounded, and just as much a part of the show as the band itself. In Boston, it was clear: this world half•alive created has spilled over into the community they’ve built.

Before we wrap up, we have to talk about the costumes. The band leaned into themes of people, movement, and memory—rocking driver coveralls decorated with race car-style patches and matching sets. Just like the set itself, their outfits felt like puzzle pieces in a larger journey—one that was cohesive, creative, and deeply fulfilling.
