Listening to your favorite band perform live in a small venue on the beach? Sign us up! When we heard Penelope Road was heading out on tour, you know we had to go and support them. The group just signed to Warner Records and has been going viral on TikTok for their insane talent and popular cover songs. They’re on their way to massive success, and we knew we had to be there to witness it firsthand.

The Opener – Harvey Street
The evening started with an amazing opening set by NC State-made alternative rock band, Harvey Street. Every opening act should take notes, because Jerome, Baylor, Erich, Frank, and Ran completely stole the show by their second song. Their energy was infectious and it was impossible to not sing along, even for the audience members who may not have known every word.
We loved their songs ‘Irish Goodbye’ and their latest release, ‘Back for a While.’ We can’t recommend tuning into Harvey Street enough!
The Setlist & Standout Moments
After an anticipated wait, the boys of Penelope Road took the stage. Max, Charles, Koan, James, and Anthony had our attention the moment they walked on. The five boys each had their unique spot on stage with their respective instruments – Charles on vocals and keyboard, James to his left on guitar, Max center on vocals and guitar, Koan to the far right on bass, and Anthony on the drums.
Their setlist was the perfect mix of classic covers and their own original songs, including their latest release, ‘Out Tonight’ – stream it here! Much to the audience’s pleasure, the band performed two of their popular covers that have gone viral online: Michael Jackson’s ‘Human Nature’ and Daryl Hall & John Oates’ ‘Rich Girl.’
- ‘Human Nature’ (Michael Jackson Cover)
- ‘Ain’t It Fun’ (Paramore Cover)
- ‘Out Tonight’
- ‘Mercy’
- ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ (Tears For Fears Cover)
- ‘What Can I Do’
- ‘Tired Of Love’
- ‘Rich Girl’ (Daryl Hall & John Oates Cover)

Throughout the night, Charles and Max really impressed us with their vocals, which blended together smooth as butter. We also realized what makes Penelope Road so unique. Their ability to blend and perform any genre – from funk to rock to blues – can only be mastered by few. Penelope Road is proving itself to be a force to be reckoned with, and we look forward to watching their success bloom!
Of course, the audience cheered for an encore. Little did we know, the band would be gracing us with two more standout cover songs. Their rendition of Paramore’s ‘Ain’t It Fun’ blew everyone away and had everyone of all ages on their feet dancing. What a perfect way to end the night!
The Rest Of The Tour
Luckily, we caught Penelope Road right at the beginning of their tour. They have thirteen stops left and will also be supporting Goose on their 2025 fall tour. Find the band’s shows that are closest to you here. And get your tickets because this is one you definitely do not want to miss!
