The Neighbourhood has resurfaced like a signal breaking through static. We mean, we’ve never not been listening to The Neighbourhood while the band hasn’t been active, after all, they’ve created household anthems for all seasons. But finally, their long-awaited album, (((((ultraSOUND))))), is here, and it feels like tuning into a frequency you didn’t realize your heart had been missing for the last five years. Oh, honeybees, we’re so back! This new wavelength from the band is a beautiful evolution of who The Neighbourhood have always been, that perfect blend of West Coast cool and grayscale melancholy that had us wrapped around their little finger in the Tumblr era. So, let’s dive right into this new ‘Hula Girl’ and high-frequency era.

A New Era Comes With A New Pulse
(((((ultraSOUND))))) leans into Brit-pop textures while keeping that signature The Neighbourhood grit, creating a soundscape that’s both cinematic and claustrophobic. It’s emotionally dense but strangely weightless, the kind of album that will always hang in the air, whatever you’re doing. Across 12 tracks, the band explores heartbreak, renewal, and self-reflection with a rawness that low-key feels intrusive at times. Have we just opened Jesse Rutherford’s notes app? The pre-release tracks ‘OMG,’ ‘Lovebomb,’ and ‘Private’ set the tone early and hinted at what we would expect from the new project, and they truly delivered!
The Shapeshifter New Tracks
With 12 full-length songs, there is seriously a song for everyone. Beyond the singles we’ve already come to love, the songs that sit on (((((ultraSOUND))))) feel both experimental and instinctive. There’s the coastal hush of ‘Mama Drama,’ where the vibes give beach. You know exactly what we mean. ‘Planet’ drifts in with spacier melancholy, while ‘Daisy Chain’ is something more hazy and hypnotic. ‘Zombie’ comes in with heavier bones, all grit and grey clouds (real ones know it feels like listening to the I Love You album cover). Then you have ‘Lil Ol Me’ that shrinks everything back with tender intimacy. (((((ultraSOUND))))) is truly a shapeshifter without losing the essence that is The Neighbourhood.
Let’s Talk Visuals
The Neighbourhood has cemented their aesthetic for over a decade. Everything, from their logo and colours to the general sound, is so them that you simply can’t hear any other artist capture the same vibe. An upside-down house = The Neighbourhood. The music video for ‘Hula Girl’ was shot and directed by Ramez Silyan. It threads perfectly into the era’s aesthetic. It’s moody, dreamlike, and a little off-kilter. It feels like The Neighbourhood stepping back into the light, but only after choosing exactly how they want to be seen.
An Album That Feels Lived In For Fans That Have Waited Five Years
Five years is a long time, but it feels like they never left. Who can agree? (((((ultraSOUND))))) is confident without being loud, emotional without being indulgent, nostalgic without leaning on old tricks. The band has clearly done its homework, healed its wounds, and sharpened its edges to produce this masterpiece. In a way, (((((ultraSOUND))))) does feel lived-in after the first listen.
THE WOURLD TOUR
So, we’ve heard the album. We love the album. We’re wondering how and when we will get to hear these songs live. And our prayers have been answered. With The Neighbourhood’s THE WOURLD TOUR kicking off in March 2026, this new era is touring the globe. The guys are playing iconic venues from Madison Square Garden to The O2. And judging by the way the tickets have been selling out so fast, we know we’re all ready to experience the songs live. You can discover where TNHB are taking their tour and grab your tickets here!
