We’re sure we speak for at least most of EST when we say that mgk’s lost americana Tour has been something incredible to get us through our own semi-charmed kind of lives. The tour kicked off in November, traveled through the U.S. and Canada, and just began making its way through Europe this month. Now, mgk is bringing the magic of the show to fans all over with the official ‘starman’ music video!
The video, directed by EST’s fave Sam Cahill, combines off-time shots of Colson performing ‘starman’ on the lost americana Tour stage with footage from the first North American leg of the tour. It captures so many special moments from the shows, from his famous crowd walks to fans screaming along to every word. It’s a love letter to a tour that’s become such an electrifying, positive space for people to come together over their favorite songs and rediscover their spark in life!
it’s gonna be sad to say goodbye to this era because years from now, i feel like people will realize it was heavily underrated and didn’t fully take it in while it was here. even down to the production and stage build of this set.

Let’s celebrate the ‘starman’ video and the success of the lost americana era by discussing some of the things we love most about the tour! If you haven’t gotten tickets yet, our goal here is to convince you…
‘outlaw overture’ Opener
We couldn’t think of a better opener for the lost americana album OR tour than ‘outlaw overture!’ It sets the tone in such a powerful way for an explorative album and an epic concert. Hearing that iconic guitar riff echo through an arena will give you such an adrenaline rush, especially knowing that Colson is about to rise up out of the Statue Of Liberty onstage like a total rock hero. We’re also obsessed with how his guitar descends from above him! Unless you were at the Brooklyn, NY show when it got stuck in the air…
The Stage Design
If you go to an mgk show, you get an mgk show. The lost americana Tour stage includes a XX runway and a huge set inspired by the Statue Of Liberty, but with a cigarette in her hand and three nose piercings like Kells. He rises up out of her mouth for ‘outlaw overture’ and later goes up to a platform on her hand to sing ‘I Think I’m OKAY,’ accompanied by that glowing cigarette and a lighter. Meanwhile, he has a smoking cigarette-inspired mic stand back on the main stage. On top of the physical stage elements, every song gets some pretty cool visuals on the big screen behind the band, combining premade graphics with live shots of the performance.
The ‘starman’ Dance
Come on, we can’t write an article inspired by the ‘starman’ video without spotlighting the fun dance Kells and Jus Lyons, his talented left-hand man when it comes to guitars, do during the sample of Third Eye Blind’s ‘Semi-Charmed Life!’ This little dance has become such a staple for EST at concerts and beyond – we can’t help but envision it in our heads whenever we listen to it at home.
The Tickets To My Downfall Anniversary Set
If you were lucky enough to catch the first leg of the lost americana Tour in 2025, then you got to see mgk and the band play the full Tickets To My Downfall album for its fifth anniversary! Time flies, but they’re making sure we’re still having fun with this legendary album. Hearing songs like ‘lonely’ and ‘play this when i’m gone’ in a packed arena truly gave us chills. But don’t worry too much if you missed it – iconic songs like ‘title track,’ ‘drunk face,’ and ‘nothing inside’ have stayed on the setlist for the European leg.
Be My ‘bloody valentine!’
‘bloody valentine’ was such a special moment for mgk’s career, kicking off his standout Tickets To My Downfall era and crowning him as the modern king of pop-punk. He makes sure that ‘bloody valentine’ live can be just as special by pulling up some fans from pit to be his bloody valentines and sing with him onstage! Even if you don’t get picked, the energy is so high and it’s so sweet to see how excited the valentines get.
Rook’s Drum Spotlight
Keeping the beat towards the back of the stage, Rook has been an essential part of mgk’s live band for over a decade! He’s had some difficult experiences over the past few years that took him away from his drumset, but he officially came back in early 2025 and we can safely say he’s better than ever. He gets his own drum solo spotlight moment every concert that has definitely been one of the most high-energy parts of every show, proving his dedication to drumming and the EST family. We’re beyond proud of Rook and his resilience!

‘iris’ With Julia Wolf
We’re gonna miss Julia Wolf so much after this leg of the lost americana Tour ends! She’s brought such amazing energy as the opening act for the first North American run and European leg of the tour, and mgk brings her out later in the show to perform their cover of The Goo Goo Dolls’ ‘Iris’ together, suspended above the stage on raised platforms. It’s one of the most moving parts of the show, especially when the crowd puts their phone flashlights up in the air.
‘sweet coraline’ Into ‘vampire diaries’
It’s always bittersweet when you’re at a concert and the last songs approach, but the awesome transition from ‘sweet coraline’ into ‘vampire diaries’ makes it lean toward the sweeter side! mgk and the band set up an awe-inspiring transition so smooth that you won’t even realize they’re changing songs until halfway through the verse of ‘vampire diaries.’ An honorable Best Moment mention goes to Kells doing the dance from the ‘vampire diaries’ music video.
