‘Hit My Head All Day’
We didn’t want to be cliché and put this track just because it’s the first one from the Secret Love album. We put it because, simply, it’s catchy and has its own special, strong story to tell.
‘Hit My Head All Day’ is all about the chaos in our lives, the tiredness it brings, and the external expectations we face to cope with the overall pressure it creates. It is the perfect track reflecting the whole album’s mood, mainly about the vulnerability of human beings. The idea behind the song is that we struggle to trust people and the manipulations that come from those we trust, yet we still yearn to be seen by them.
We decided to leave you with ‘Hit My Head All Day’ to reflect on life’s chaos on your own, so here’s the link. Catch it!
‘Secret Love (Concealed in A Drawing of A Boy)‘
The name says it all. The lyrics of ‘Secret Love’ are simple but so close to so many of us. This isn’t just because everyone has gone through hiding love in their life, but because real love can sometimes be something concealed from us.
‘Secret Love’ has it all, too. Ghosting, stashing, and mixed signals. The track sounds perfect for explaining all the forms of abusive love and could easily be featured in a Cosmopolitan relationships column. This one is good to listen to during your self-love healing era, quietly in your room, while understanding that real life will never be hidden.
‘I Need You‘
If Carrie Bradshaw were given a choice to choose one track from Dry Cleaning’s Secret Love album, it would be ‘I Need You.’ Not because she actually needs Big, but because the song says: “Why does it need to be over and over, and without end or change?”
‘I Need You’ reminds us of the type of love where we are desperately begging for it. It is nothing like a healthy bond between two people; rather, it is the painful realization of things that will never change, even though the love still exists.
Could it be your next little drama track? We don’t know, but we’re leaving this to you for exploration.
