Sophia Galaté is basically popstar Barbie. She can sing, dance, serve face, and teach us how to be the most confident versions of ourselves all in one album. After listening to her latest album, For My Own Entertainment, we knew we had to sit down with Sophia and get a deeper understanding of what drives her to make music. If this is your first time hearing the name Sophia Galaté, take this as your sign to fully dive into her discography (because she’s going on tour and you don’t wanna miss these live shows!)
Let’s get buzzing with Sophia!

Hi Sophia, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us today! To start us off, tell us a bit about yourself and your journey to creating music.
Well! My story is very unique. I actually worked in the entertainment industry before becoming an artist. I grew up singing and performing and always wanted to be a singer, but I was too scared to actually pursue it so I started working in the music industry – I worked in concert touring and was even a manager. But my passion and purpose always was being an artist, so I transitioned into making music just on my own, which led me to the undeniable truth that it was my calling. The background working in the industry has definitely been helpful.
Before becoming a successful artist yourself, you used to work at a touring company, working behind the scenes in the music industry. How did what you learned in the corporate world translate to your work as a full-time artist today?
I’m the most organized artist you will ever meet.
If someone reading this were to go and listen to your music for the first time right now, which song should they listen to first?
‘For My Own Entertainment.’
We have a lot of dancers here in the hive, and we love that you are a dancer as well! Does your dancing background inspire the type of music you make?
OMG, I’m honored you called me a dancer. I wouldn’t really say I am a dancer, but have always participated in dance, and I love movement.
We are obsessed with your personal branding both on social media and in everyday life (we get the feeling you know what you’re doing when it comes to marketing yourself and your music). Tell us about your creative process when it comes to branding.
Thank you! Branding is so important to me, and I’m grateful I enjoy it because I spend a lot of time curating it. Details are so important, and world-building is just really fun to match the visuals with the music and create a world.
Talk about the energetic shift that was required to happen in the making of SOFIA to your most recent album, For My Own Entertainment.
SOFIA was more of my slower tempo jazz-inspired project and a bit more sophisticated visually. For this new album, For My Own Entertainmnet, I wanted to express my personality as a whole. I am loud, I am sassy, and bold. I worked with a different producer on pretty much every song, so I was able to explore so many more sonic identities.
You are headed out on tour! What is your favorite part about performing live for fans all over the U.S.?
I, of course, love singing, but I really love being active with my audience during my set. My performance is very collaborative with the audience, and it makes for a more personal experience and memorable one for them.
Releasing a new album is a huge deal! Congrats on all the success! What is the main goal you are working towards next as an artist?
I’m looking to build a team so I can grow! I would love to explore bringing some people into my world.
