AG8 is here, and her name is petal. Seemingly out of nowhere, Ariana Grande dropped a flowery announcement – the release date of her eighth studio album. The past few weeks, she’s been teasing a new era on her socials, posting pictures of flowers and using the number 8 in captions. Fans quickly caught on, though, as they never miss a beat. Here’s everything we know about petal so far, and how it may conflict with the highly demanded eternal sunshine tour.
Petal Releases On July 31st
Many fans have expressed their frustration with the ticket sale and resale process of the eternal sunshine tour, and the announcement of a brand new album on top of fans’ current struggles seems to come at an odd time. Fairly, fans are now even more anxious about the prospect of missing Ariana’s tour due to new songs being released this summer. Amidst the tour, petal will be releasing on July 31st. Whether Ariana will be playing any of the new songs on tour is yet to be announced; however, we do suspect that fans attending the show in Montreal, QC, on the same night as the album release will be amongst the first fans to hear the new songs performed live. We think Ariana would sing a handful of the songs on petal live that night, but nothing is confirmed, and she may just surprise us.

The Album Has 12 New Tracks
One important thing we do know is petal has 12 tracks. We suspect some of these new songs were written around the same time that eternal sunshine was made, and also some may be brand new, arising after the release of ES. By the looks of the album art, fonts, and other visuals, petal seems like a sister album to ES. We have yet to know the themes and stories Ariana will tell on this record, but we do think they will fit into the world of ES seamlessly. As for the 12 songs themselves, no features have been announced, nor do we know the length of any of the songs. If this project is similar in nature to her seventh studio album, we hope to hear R&B sounds and potential features from Ariana’s friends and family.
