We should, obviously, start by saying how excited we were to attend An Evening With KUN! He’s such a dynamic artist with a prolific career, and the opportunity to see him at a more intimate show – London’s Indigo at the O2 has a capacity of less than 2000 – was one we couldn’t miss. If you’re not familiar with KUN, you’re missing out, and we’re here to fix that. Read our review of KUN’s live show to learn more about him, and get FOMO that you weren’t there, too.
A Lifetime Of KUN
It’s hard to condense KUN’s storied career into a few sentences, but let us give it a go. KUN is an artist and entertainer of the highest order! First dipping his toe into various acting roles and reality shows, KUN really, really rose to fame on the survival show Idol Producer, where he went on to become the center and leader of Nine Percent! Since then, he’s achieved incredible success as an idol, solo artist, actor, brand ambassador, mentor, and more! If you’re into K-Pop, you may have seen him as a judge on Youth With You with LISA or in the cast of Keep Running with YUQI! See what we mean when we say that KUN is a whole other level of successful?
All of this context made us even more excited for An Evening With KUN, not just because it’s a rarity to see an artist of this scale in an intimate venue, but also because of KUN’s artistic choices since then. Inspired by the great artists in jazz, blues, soul, and R&B, KUN has taken a deliberate step away from the typical idol image and taken full creative control of his sound. What that leaves us with is getting to witness an artist totally at ease and in his element.

An Evening With KUN
As all live music fans know, the team surrounding the artist is key to a show’s success. And let us tell you, KUN’s live band was absolutely stellar. Their talent was off the charts, and their energy was totally infectious, adding a carefree joy to the show. Obviously, KUN is a totally magnetic star in his own right, but it was amazing to watch him and the band bounce off one another.
Honestly, we’re struggling (ironically) to put into words how grand the energy was on the night, but maybe the aesthetic will clue you in a bit more. We’re talking big, theatrical red velvet drapes surrounding the stage. The band all in classic suits. And KUN, center-stage with slicked-back hair and a chic all-black fit complete with leather gloves. Now, are you getting a sense of the grandeur?

The Setlist
Let’s not forget one of the most important aspects of every live show, the setlist! Despite only being 13 songs, KUN’s live setlist felt much grander IRL, showcasing a wide range of styles! If we had to pick, we reckon our favorites were ‘Jasmine’ and ‘Paranoid,’ but we’ll let you see for yourself:
- ‘Honour’
- ‘Jasmine’
- ‘Don’t Call’
- ‘Back in Time’
- ‘Paranoid’
- ‘Washed Away’
- ‘What a Day’
- ‘RIDE OR DIE’
- ‘Lover’
- ‘Fool’
- ‘Afterglow’
- ‘Colder’
- ‘Deadman’
