NYC. If I don't have coffee: I'm at a show.
Fresh off of the release of their debut album, BREAK THE CURSE, in 2022, Arlie has followed up the smash ep Wait with a sound that is truly versatile in the range from acoustic to high energy. Striking a balance between melodies that feel familiar with a modernized sense of style that makes them a true celebration of alternative indie music (+ a must on our playlist!)
Based out of Nashville, Arlie was originally the solo project of singer-songwriter Nathaniel Banks, which had expanded into additional members joining across the Nashville college scene with members Carson Lystad on guitar, Adam Lichees on drums, and multi-instrumentalist Tyler Waters. We at THP were beyond stoked to catch Arlie at Bowery Ballroom in NYC on the Arlie’s Angels run, which called for a night full of hits, classic and new.
Standout moments of the night include the live rendition of ‘cool’ and ‘crashing down’ with a pairing of truly angelic vocals and a striking guitar. Arlie engages their audience with a range of relatable themes across their sound. Themes of reflection, heartbreak, and individuality intertwined with an altruistic retro-pop sound set Arlie apart. We love them already, Honey Poppers, and we’re highly recommending you get on this train!
But for starters, let’s get into what y’all need to know down. If you’re all for branching out across the indie scene or if you’re loving Flipturn, Arlie captures emotions of love, life, and reflection with a modernized retro, well-rounded sound – all factors that keep them at the top of our rotation.
And let us tell you, Honey Poppers, these are songs we need to hit play and just sway along to. (We’re there right along with you!)
To show this incredibly talented lineup even more love, we’ve listed our go-to tracks here. And since we’re feeling it here at THP, that means you are going to as well.
Our Arlie Collection:
- ‘crashing down’
- ‘didya think’
- ‘titantic’
