We knew 2024 was going to be an amazing year the second Luke Hemmings stepped on a red carpet last month and said there would be new music and tour coming from him this year. Sure, we still don’t fully understand what he meant when he said tour, and that terrifies us every day! But we do know for sure what he meant when he said new music this year. And that was his new EP boy which will be out everywhere on April 26th. The announcement came after the release of his first single off the EP, ‘Shakes.’
‘Shakes’ is a track that Luke says came out of one particularly dull evening in NYC. We can fully understand why writing while on the road makes it easier to channel a more melancholy place within your music. The track is all about that feeling of longing to be home again. When your social battery has hit empty, you’d do anything to be in your bed with that one person who recharges your batteries just by existing.
There is a longing for love and self-acceptance in the lyrics and I hope it to be a song and feeling that anyone listening can find themselves in and attach their own story

There’s something really special about finding strength or feeling seen in the music that your favorite artist creates while trying to heal from their own life. We personally feel like this is where the bond between musicians and fans becomes the strongest. And with artists like Luke, who are willing to break down what their songs are truly about, it reminds you that your fave is always working through life just like you are. It’s a kind of bond that we personally wouldn’t trade for the world!
We know that waiting until April 26th for boy is going to be a special kind of agony for us all. But at least we can lean on each other, and ‘Shakes’ for support in the meantime!
