‘uh oh,’ Tate McRae Stole Our Hearts Again!

Yes, Tate McRae just dropped her debut album, i used to think i could fly, a few months ago. Yes, she’s already serving up new music and making us lose our minds again. Yes, we’re talking about her irresistibly catchy new single, ‘uh oh!’

From the opening notes, ‘uh oh’ has such a dreamy pop vibe that’s grounded with a chill trap beat, which kinda reminds us of Ariana Grande’s ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored.’ It’s all about the rush of going back and forth with someone, and it has more sultry vibes than Tate’s past work. Almost enemies-to-lovers vibes? We love it!

‘uh oh’ is so different from all my other songs and that’s what makes me so excited about it. It talks about the flirty, lighthearted feeling of constantly going back to someone and the adrenaline that goes along with it.

We’re crossing all our fingers that we’ll get an ‘uh oh’ music video, because the lyrics paint such a vivid picture of how Tate feels about this person and what it’s like to be with them. Our concept: Tate’s at a party with her friends and catches that certain someone’s eye, only to play it cool most of the night and act like she doesn’t notice them.

The camera would pan over the room (full of neon lights with some Euphoria vibes) and once Tate sings “I go missing,” she’d mysteriously be gone from the crowd. But it’s all good – she’s just meeting up in the backyard with her crush. There’d be bubbles everywhere to match the bubbly feeling of the song, and maybe an illuminated pool? Overall, just really fun vibes that capture the thrill of this relationship. Then they’d have to get in the car and drive to her crush’s house to stay true to the story of the song, of course.

We’ve never heard Tate McRae quite like this before, and we can’t get enough! ‘uh oh’ just oozes confidence and “cool girl” vibes, giving us even more proof that she deserves Main Pop Girl status. From the time Tate started teasing the song on TikTok, we were counting down the days for its release and the wait was totally worth it. Now, off to make our own TikToks with the ‘uh oh’ sound!
