Sophia Alexa has just released your new favorite EP, and it’s called Before I Go. If her awe-invoking and breathtaking vocals aren’t enough to blow you out of the water, the songwriting will for sure. Before I Go is vulnerable, honest, painful, and transparent to its absolute core. With every song acting as a different entry in a diary, Alexa lets us into her mind and her heart on this EP.
In conversation about the EP, Sophia had this to say:
“The EP ‘Before I Go’ is about navigating my way through my relationship with myself and the world. It starts off with ‘To A Fault’ which describes my loyalty being used against me. The other songs touch on my fears around relationships such as settling, changing too soon and being stuck in the past of what used to be. I like to think of the EP as me trying to uncover how I view the world and others. I’m kind of exposing my own faults as a way to hopefully connect to others.”

A work all about navigating yourself and how you fit into the lives around you, Before I Go is nothing short of a masterpiece. With light, flowy vocals mixed with an electro-folk blend, this EP is scratching our brains in all the right places. Sophia does her best to remind us that all you can do is try your best and be honest. And obviously, she does it beautifully.
It’s safe to say we have our own journal, a hot cup of tea, and boxes of tissues on standby while we burn this EP into our skulls. With lines like “I wanna bury the memory, When it haunts me at night, All the months that I’ve given, Just to keep you alive.” Can you blame us?
