Coming off of the release of their album Waiting to Spill, The Backseat Lovers embarked on a brief run for the eponymous album. This album comes just a few years after the release of the 2019 album When We Were Friends, and the band embarked on a preview tour throughout November.
Natives of Utah, the Backseat Lovers consist of Jonas Swanson, Joshua Harmon, KJ Ward, and Juice Welch. Hailing from the towns of Heber City Sandy and Ogden, the group captures a nostalgic, soothing energy. In Waiting to Spill, this pours into the fluidity of the band’s sound. Think, the soundtrack that plays when we need to remember and sometimes forget.
Standouts + Our Recs!
Standout moments of the night include the live rendition of ‘Close Your Eyes’ and ‘Growing/Dying’ which through striking chords and reflective lyrics, led the audience into a chorus and bridge that has us singing along, and relating hard.
But for starters, if you’re all for loving the indie rock scene – we’re thinking of folks we’ve checked out (think Peach Pit and Flipturn!) The Backseat Lovers are a group you’re going to love.
And let us tell you, Honey Poppers, these are tracks we need to turn up, listen to, sing and obviously jam out to. (We’re dancing right along with you!)
