The Honey POP is counting down the days until Mandi Mapes’ debut album is released to the world. In the meantime, we’re streaming her newest single ‘Daffodil Floors’ and hitting replay on the music video.
‘Daffodil Floors’ is the second single off of her brand new debut album, Levees. The song is all about remembering that you are loved and it is okay to rest. When it’s hard to stay hopeful, Mandi Mapes stays focused on the light.
Behind the Music
Mapes started her music journey by moving from New Orleans to Nashville, but the journey wasn’t always easy. Her music career took a backseat while she focused on motherhood and starting her family.
“I didn’t know how to find the balance of being present with my daughter while also pursuing anything creatively,” she explained of the single. This took quite a toll on her mental health before she ultimately grew out of the thorns.
‘Daffodil Floors’ has a stunning music video that we cannot stop watching on repeat, featuring Mapes’ very own daughter.
The video even takes place in her hometown. Such a special moment!
It’s an ode to “[her] personal journey of coming to the end of a long road. Finding the courage to step off that road and begin resting in [her] beloved-ness,” she explained about ‘Daffodil Floors.’
The video has a nostalgic, hopeful tone as Mandi dances with her younger self (played by Mandi’s daughter). It is an excellent reminder not to lose your childlike nature and that it is okay to relax and be soft.
