We never run out of reasons to love Bea Miller, and it’s not like she has ever stopped giving us reasons to love her. And her new release, ‘jealous of my friends,‘ is another one of those reasons! Bea shows us a new layer of transparency in this track. Admitting that you don’t always have positive emotions toward your friends is definitely easier said than done. But Bea makes it look like a cakewalk in this one.
Bea is aware that envy isn’t an emotion that everyone thinks is okay to talk openly about. She had this to say about the track:
’jealous of my friends’ is a song I was honestly a bit hesitant to release. nobody wants to admit that they feel anything but proud and excited for their friends when they accomplish or experience great things. I think though, that it’s only human nature to grapple with pride and jealousy every once in a while, and I’m hoping that if people relate to this song, they’ll be a little bit less hard on themselves for it, knowing they’re not the only one.
Bea Miller
Not only is the song a certified banger, but so is the music video. The video acts as installment three of 12 in BEA MILLER’S CABINET, Bea’s ongoing visual collection. The video brings Bea’s anxiety to life and shows it haunting her as she tries to push her envy aside. While discussing the new video, Bea said that “we wanted to showcase how feeling anything but happy for your friends when they experience great things can be scary, because you know it’s wrong.”
We know it’s going to sound weird, and maybe a little off, but this video is beyond comforting to us. It’s comforting to not only see Bea put herself first by speaking her truth but being able to find comfort in relating to it as well.
