Ava Della Pietra is a powerhouse singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and even a Broadway actress. We’ve never been shy about gushing over Ava, and how could you even begin to blame us? And her newest release, ‘it started with u‘ is simply our newest reason to lose our minds over her talent. This entrancing masterpiece is everything and more, with only one lingering question: How do we send this to our ex without sending it to our ex?
Ava has said before that being painfully honest in her music is something that comes easily to her, and obviously we can’t help but agree. The way she weaves her lyrics into webs and she takes us through the experience of not only losing someone you loved and trusted but the aftermath of it all. Ava truly says it best here:
I wrote ‘it started with u’ after being shut out by someone I thought was my best friend. It’s about recognizing the huge impact this person had on my life, while also realizing that I have the power to take that negativity and turn it around, so I can come out of the experience stronger than ever.

And you thought we were done? Absolutely not! This release is simply one of many in Ava’s new series all with the theme “you.” Her prior release, ‘happy for you,’ is still our go-to late-night drive track, and we think it’s safe to say ‘it started with u’ is for the late-night drives home. So you can 100% count on us to keep our eyes peeled for the next release.
The release of ‘it started with u’ is already a massive celebration on its own. But how about we add on celebrating that Ava was accepted into the Harvard College/Berklee College of Music Dual Program. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to absolutely no one that Ava has also managed to maintain killer grades on top of all her other accomplishments and projects. Honestly, the sky isn’t even close to the limit for Ava.
