We might turn our heads for every ‘Shy Boy’ we see now. Thanks to the pop queen herself, Carly Rae Jepsen. ‘Shy Boy’ is everything we’ve come to love and expect from Carly over the years. It also reminds us exactly why we love it when she leans into her disco-pop baddie side as much as we do. Oh, and don’t get us started on the funk elements she showcases here. There isn’t anything about this song that isn’t worth talking about!
Carly has always made it clear that if she’s anything, it’s a fierce ally. So getting an absolute dance floor anthem during Pride Month is so her style, and we’re here for it! ‘Shy Boy’ marks Carly’s first release since the masterpiece that’s The Loneliest Time dropped in 2022. We still haven’t moved on from how ‘Shooting Star’ makes us feel! But we will say that this release has us feeling like we’re dancing on top of a shooting star.

The Loneliest Time was like using a mirror to look directly into Carly’s soul. She showed us not just her creative side but the deeper parts of her as well. You can’t help but fall even more in love with Carly as an artist and human. This release brings the growth we saw on The Loneliest Time and previous records like EMOTION & Dedicated together for what will be a new staple in her discography. And we can’t wait to hear it live when she hits the road this summer with boygenius! And don’t forget her sold-out shows in New York and LA!
