Fresh Music Friday: Troye Sivan, Meghan Trainor and More!

The day has arrived, it’s finally Friday again, and Fresh Music Friday is here to add exactly what you’re looking for to all of your playlists! From Troye Sivan’s new single to the new Spencer Sutherland and Meghan Trainor collaboration, we have a little something for everyone!

Drea & The Marilyns – Sad songs you can dance to

We are kicking off Fresh Music Friday with an album that feels perfectly crafted to exactly what we’re always looking for. A good cry, and something that we can spin around in our room to. It’s ideal. Drea & The Marilyns have beyond delivered with Sad songs you can dance to! ‘Rocky Shores’ is our favorite track of the bunch, feeling stripped right from an angsty scene of a coming-of-age movie.

Spencer Sutherland & Meghan Trainor – ‘Chicken Little’

This collaboration is exactly what the term ‘match made in musical heaven’ was made for. The chorus is larger than life, and we need to be screaming it at a concert with both Spencer and Meghan ASAP.

The moment Meghan’s verse started, we were reminded that she does indeed have one of the best, most commanding voices in the industry, such a force. And that bridge? Yeah, it’s a bit iconic.

Troye Sivan – ‘Rush’

Everyone moved. Troye Sivan just released a career highlight-level single. And that’s saying a lot because Blue Neighbourhood is one of the best albums of all time and had killer singles. ‘Rush’ is going to be everywhere this summer, and it’s deserved. We have a feeling ‘Rush’ is going to catapult Troye Sivan even further into the global superstar status he has always been destined for.

Cyn – ‘Where Do All The Diamonds Go’

Wow. Cyn has absolutely blown us away and made permanent fans out of us with ‘Where Do All The Diamonds Go!’ This soft-alt-pop track is exactly the track our playlists were missing. We are going to need everyone to become as obsessed with this track as we are, do yourself a favor.

Sidney Bird – ‘bitters’

We here on Fresh Music Friday have been enamored by Sidney Bird since we first heard ‘Ms. Jones,’ so hearing that ‘bitters’ lived up to how highly we regard that track proved that Sidney Bird is here to stay. Sidney has an almost Halsey-meets-Carly Rae Jepsen quality to her music, and it’s pure heaven.

Logan Avidan – ‘Left My Heart’

Alt-angsty-pop will always for perfectly on our playlists. It’s that simple. Logan Avidan has mastered that sub-genre with ‘Left My Heart.’ We feel like this track would have fit perfectly on a 2000s movie soundtrack. And that’s high praise from people that think that was the peak of music.

Chelsea Cutler – ‘I Don’t Feel Alive’

Leave it to Chelsea Cutler to make us cry at 5 am on a Friday morning (when this is being written.) ‘I Don’t Feel Alive’ feels both larger than life, especially with that chorus, and yet also feels so personal and vulnerable, such beautiful concepts in music to coexist.

Chelsea Cutler being Noah Kahan coded is something so personal to us. We actually are going to need a remix with both of them on this track ASAP.

Sueco – ‘Help Me’

‘Help Me’ is adding the perfect mix of a bit of alt-pop-punk to this week’s Fresh Music Friday! We can’t get enough of this infectious track, we can’t believe we weren’t labeling Sueco as one to watch yet, but we definitely are now!

Durry – ‘I’m Fine (No Really)’

Fresh Music Friday is ending on a bang with ‘I’m Fine (No Really)’ courtesy of our new favorite duo, Durry! This track is going to soundtrack our summer; it’s that simple. Durry is going to become an essential part of our listening patterns, and we can’t wait to hear the album Suburban Legend, which comes out in September!
