Fefe Dobson has been a staple on our playlists since 2003! Although, back then, she was dominating our iPods… but we don’t want to age ourselves too much. Fefe came out of the gate as a force of nature and quickly became the punk-rock voice we needed. In the last twenty years, we’ve seen Fefe grow as an artist and have been anticipating her latest album.
Thankfully, Fefe is back! After making us wait for what feels like forever (but we forgive you!) Fefe Dobson is releasing her latest album, EMOTION SICKNESS, on September 29. And honestly, we’re getting pretty emotional about it. We’re so incredibly proud of what Fefe has accomplished in her career so far and would bet you twenty dollars (we can’t bet any more than that in this economy) that EMOTION SICKNESS will be her best era yet.
In celebration, let’s take a look back at some of our favorite Fefe Dobson tracks. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newbie, we’re about to make a Fefe stan out of you!
‘Take Me Away’
Pardon our French, but this is probably one of the most kick-a*s songs we’ve heard in our lives to this day. It takes us back to our angsty teenage days when all we wanted to do was scream and be angry. Most vividly when we had that love in our lives. You know the one: the love that makes us want to forget everyone and everything else. The one that consumes us fully. The love that we’d run away for. ‘Take Me Away’ is by far one of the standout singles from her debut self-titled album and one of our top choices in creating any new Fefe fan.
Other recommendations we have from Fefe Dobson are ‘Bye Bye Boyfriend’ (her debut single) ‘Give It Up’ and our ultimate, favorite Fefe song of all-time: ‘Unforgiven.’
‘Miss Vicious’
We feel like we can’t talk about Fefe without talking about ‘Miss Vicious.’ Although it wasn’t a single from her album Sunday Love, it’s been in our top five for years. It also would have been our Myspace profile song! This is the song that you put on at full volume and drive down the highway, going one hundred miles an hour in a convertible. Or at least, in theory. Please drive safely! It’s fun, it’s punchy, and, well… it makes you feel vicious!
In our opinion, Sunday Love doesn’t always get the love it deserves. So, to change that, here are our other faves for you to check out: ‘Get You Off’ and ‘Don’t Let It Go To Your Head.’
‘Stuttering’
This is a Fefe Dobson classic. Even most passive listeners have heard ‘Stuttering’ because it is – in our humble opinion – one of the greatest pop songs of the 2010s! Infectious and catchy, no one but the one and only Fefe Dobson could have us screaming gibberish like, “Oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, ey-ey-ey-ey-ey, oh-oh-oh-oh” at the top of our lungs. And don’t even get us started on the video. The queen was looking flawless!
Joy introduced us to a different side of Fefe but proved she is a versatile artist who can sing anything! If you haven’t heard it yet, we’d recommend checking out ‘You B*tch,’ ‘I’m A Lady,’ and the always popular ‘Ghost.’
Now that we’ve gotten that trip down memory lane out of the way, here’s where we finally get to gush about her new stuff! Fefe has so graciously gifted us with new singles and filled the void she’d left. The anticipation started building when she released ‘FCKIN IN LOVE’ back in 2022 and hit the roof with the arrival of the 80s-inspired pop-synth masterpiece ‘RECHARGE MY HEART.’
What’s really brought on our happy tears is her album announcement! Fresh off the release of her latest release, ‘I CAN’T LOVE HIM (AND LOVE YOU TOO),’ Fefe has blessed us (at least the lucky Canadian fans) with a tour AND the coming of her fourth studio album, EMOTION SICKNESS!
