Here’s Why Red (Taylor’s Version) Is Still On Our Minds

Red (Taylor’s Version) will never go out of style! We had to sneak that reference in. With 1989 (Taylor’s Version) out in a mere five days (preorder or pre-save now!), we need to take a moment to appreciate one of Taylor’s best-rerecorded albums, Red (Taylor’s Version).

There are many reasons why Red (Taylor’s Version) will never go out of style, forever remaining in our wildest dreams. But we managed to narrow it down to our top 5 today (it was the most challenging thing ever).

The Build-up To The Album!

Someone, please invent a time machine to take us back to relive the time we spent in 2021 between June 18 and November 12. The unexpected announcement… the crossword! Oh my god. Please take us back.

You are lying, not just to us, but to yourself as well if you think any time can compare to those four months between Taylor’s announcement and the album’s actual release. The excitement was insane. We didn’t play anything but Red in the months leading up to the release. We could not stop listening to Red (Taylor’s Version) months after it came out. It was a peak time in swiftie land!

From The Vault Songs!

They were so good!!! What more can we say about the From The Vault songs? You’ve got ‘Better Man,’ ‘Babe,’ ‘Forever Winter,’ and ‘The Very First Night.’ The double feature of longtime collaborator Ed Sheeran with ‘Run.’ The hyperpop of the bop that is ‘Message In A Bottle?’ And let’s not forget Phoebe Bridger’s feature in ‘Nothing New.’ Name a better From The Vault section, we’ll wait.

Will you still want me when I’m nothing new?

‘Nothing New (feat. Phoebe Bridgers) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’ – Red (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift

Yes, Taylor. Yes, we will.

‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault)’

And the record for the longest name ever for a song goes to… Ding, ding, ding! You guessed it: the From The Vault song of all From The Vault songs.

Are you telling us that any song will ever come close to the 10-minute version that we bullied Taylor (with love) into giving us? Well, if you are, it’s lies. All lies. This is Taylor telling us to wait and be patient for the 10-minute version with all our begging over the years:

Nothing compares to the feeling of hearing the intro music. Dun… dun dun… dun dun… dun dun dun (our pathetic attempt to sing the intro music).

Is anything ever going to beat getting 10 minutes of ‘All Too Well?’ Maybe a ‘Cardigan’ (10 Minute Version,) but who knows if we will ever get that. Getting the lyrics “F**k the patriarchy” and “I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age”? I-co-nic.

Plus, Taylor gave us official Karaoke versions of All Too Well (Taylor’s Version) and All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault). And can we have a moment for the ‘Sad Girl Autumn Version‘??? Recorded at Long Pond Studios??? We were so blessed. Mother really fed us.

The Short Film

Did the announcement have you losing it as much as we did when it was initially made? This short film allowed Taylor to make her debut as a filmmaker and… sorry, excuse us for a moment while we get ourselves together *sniff sniff* *wipes tears*. Sorry about that *clears throat*. We just get so emotional when we think about any of her accomplishments.

But let’s switch views for a second. We got Dylan O’Brien, the Dylan O’Brien, in a music video and him becoming besties with Taylor (and he played the drums in Midnights like omg). We also got the talented Sadie Sink! Leave us alone to cry and die. We still can’t believe it. Their acting, their chemistry! They really brought the “characters” and story to life. We could not imagine anyone better to play the roles. Especially that post-dinner fight scene. Never did we think we’d have even the slightest negative reaction to Dylan or one of his characters. But his acting and Taylor’s directing skills proved us wrong.

Also, special mention of Taylor Swift in red hair! She looks so good! Some grab her some hair dye right now!

The Music Videos!

Look, we’re not saying that Red (Taylor’s Version) has the best music videos… but we, in fact, are.

Not only did we get a full short film but we also got ‘I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)’ (Official Music Video)! Taylor in a wedding dress – we need several moments to collect ourselves whenever we think about it. Additionally, that red dress she wears. Oh my god! In addition to that, we got Miles Teller and his wife Keleigh in a music video with Taylor. She really made all of our simp hearts go haywire with this album’s music videos.
