Some Of THP’s Favorite André 3000 Projects

andre 3000

You’ve heard or seen at least one thing involving André 3000 in your life, and if you say no, we know you’re lying. This man has literally been doing a lot since he first started releasing music. From releasing non-stop bops on every movie project, to having his own show, as well as featuring in shows and movies, and now releasing a primarily wind album, New Blue Sun.

New Blue Sun

From growing up playing instruments and André 3000 listeners, we here at THP don’t think this album idea is so out of the park for André. He’s always shown his love for wind instruments, as he was seen playing his custom wooden flute in multiple places, which we think was pretty iconic of him. Plus, his past music really incorporates some pretty cool instruments and beats.

Now, we gotta say we didn’t really expect how long the album would be, but looking back at some of his other projects, we should’ve seen it coming. The album contains eight songs combined for an hour and a half, as each track is roughly 10 minutes long. This has to be one of the most comforting, peaceful albums we have heard so far, with also the most unique track names. A couple stood out to us, including:

  • ‘I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A “Rap” Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time,’: The windchimes were an obvious standout for us.
  • ‘The Slang Word P(*)ssy Rolls Off The Tongue With Far Better Ease Than The Proper Word V*gina . Do You Agree?’: We liked the pipe organ throughout the track.
  • ‘That Night In Hawaii When I Turned Into A Panther And Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn’t Control … Sh¥t Was Wild’: the title perfectly describes how the track sounds, we also really liked the percussion instrumentals in this one.
  • And to close out the album, ‘Dreams Once Buried Beneath The Dungeon Floor Slowly Sprout Into Undying Gardens,’ we can 100% imagine this playing in the background of those cozy fantasy games that you get lost in, the track brings all of our favorite things from the other tracks into one.

See, we told you, it has some pretty unique track names, and honestly, if you check out his interview about this album, you’ll know why each track name was pretty specific. We honestly really loved New Blue Sun, and if you’re looking into some more peaceful, instrumental music, then you should definitely check it out. You can find where to stream it here. We have to say this is probably one of our favorite projects from André throughout his career, and y’all, he has quite a few projects that we’ve loved, so in honor of New Blue Sun, and our favorite artists, here are some of our other favorite projects from him.

Class Of 3000

So, if you’re not aware of Class of 3000, it was a show created by André, hence the name, following a former recording artist who lost his passion for creating music and later, with some persuasion, became a music teacher at Georgia’s Westley School Of Performing Arts. It was shown on Cartoon Network from 2006-2008, featuring many musical guests, diverse characters (based on real people in his past), and so many cool tracks. And if Mr. Bridges looks familiar to you, he appeared in the ending credits of The Grim Adventures of the KND, which, to our fellow 90s/2000s kids, was mind-blowing. We highly recommend checking out the show, as the art style and original tracks are unmatched.

ATLiens

ATLiens was the first album that both members of Outkast, André, and Big Boi, had a hand in producing, with the tracks ‘Jazzy Belle,’ and ‘Elevators (Me and You).’ We have to say the album is probably one of our favorites from the duo, as they were finding the type of music they really connected with and wanted to make. Also, around this time, they had just been given more music for the project, and each entered a different stage in their lives, as you can really tell things were going in their favor. Our favorites off the album have to be ‘ATliens’ and ‘Ova The Wudz,’ ‘Jazzy Belle,’ and ‘Wheelz Of Steel.’

Honorable Mentions

André 3000 is a genius in really anything he does. He is just so creative, and it translates so well with whatever project he is involved in, especially with New Blue Sun, so please, please, check it out.
