Lanterns

Lanterns is the best album to put on if you have just gone through a breakup. The second we started listening to it, we had flashbacks to our recent or most intense heartbreak.

The album paints a story of someone going through a breakup, each song representing a different part of the aftermath. Lanterns will carry you through the entire process of going through a heartbreak. From the agony and self-deprecation to the getting better, and finally, the acceptance that you are better off because, anyway, your ex could never do better than you.

The Story

The initial agony of losing someone you gave your all to, who did not give an ounce back, is the song, ‘Boxes.’ Then begins the reminiscing of the relationship, the good and bad parts, before slowly beginning to accept it’s over with ‘Nail In The Coffin.’ Soon comes the time when you finally accept that your relationship is over in ‘Overthrown.’ But it is still difficult to move on because you still love them ‘(Lost On You).’ Next comes the phase where you wonder if you, and your love, were a ‘Burden’ to them. But you slowly begin to move on as time passes. It hurts, but you’re healing, and you realize, ‘I Don’t Want It Anymore.’

Sadly, the setback comes with ‘Only Fools.’ This is the phase where “I want them back” plays over and over again in your mind. But you know better; you know it won’t work out, and you’d rather not go through this a second time. Then comes the misery and hate of how long it takes to move on, why it feels like ‘The Longest Goodbye‘ ever.

But then you begin to get tired, tired of their excuses, and tired of them trying to ‘Justify‘ their actions. You don’t care anymore. You don’t care if they make you the ‘Villain‘ or anything because you know they can never find someone who could love them the way you did. A bit of time passes, and you have accepted all that has happened and truly moved on. You learned, and you changed, you can say, ‘I’m Different Now.’
