The collab of the day, of the week, of the year, and of the century is here! Clearly, we are excited for Eyedress and The Marías to be teaming up 😍. Their newest music video drop for ‘Separate Ways’ has us feeling some type of way. A trippy claymation space-alien 👽 scene awaits us as we deep dive into a new visual dimension for ‘Separate Ways.’ Will we be transported to Mars, Neptune, and Saturn by the end of the video!? (We hope so!)
Visuals And Curation
Okay, we are totally tripped out! But in the best way possible! As viewers of the video, we are taken through the mundane life of small-town claymation figurines. Each of them has their own unique story that somehow all end up in the spaceship of what we can only assume to be alien-like people. If the aliens are coming anytime soon, we want to be taken away with The Marías!
The unique choice of using claymation instead of real actors gives the song a new art-like quality that perfectly matches the stunning vocals in the background. We can only hope that other artists will follow suit with unique video concepts like claymation and other visual art forms. All that to say, we’ve been transported to space 🚀and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
Lyrics And Symbolism
It’s easy to get lost in the beautiful melodies that seem to override the lyrics. It is also hard at times to decipher which band is singing which verse/chorus, but that’s what makes this song so beautiful. Both Eyedress and The Marías’ sounds blend so beautifully together ❤️🔥 Despite the clear alien-like influence of the music video, the lyrics seem to reflect the loss of the one you love.
“Hated that we went our separate ways / Maybe we just need some time to change / Maybe in the future, I could stay / Wait, for once I got a lot to say,” The Marías sing. When we yearn for someone we’ve lost, romantically or not, it’s hard not to peer into the deep blue night sky and wonder where they are 🌠.
Have aliens abducted them? Eyedress ponders mindlessly, stating that they are “On my way to where you are.” Despite the heartbreaking lyrics, we can’t deny the beauty of the video!
