One of our favorite friendships in music is Monsta X’s I.M and Heize! They’ve always championed each other’s music, and now they’re back with another collaboration! ‘Slowly,’ the latest digital single by I.M featuring Heize, is the sultry, laidback, in-your-feelings anthem we’ve been looking for.
‘Slowly’
I.M is known for his nonchalant persona even in the most aggressive of his raps; everything he says is filled with indifference and often even derision. Here, he transfers that nonchalance into crooning vocals, which are at odds with the storytelling in ‘Slowly.’
Entirely in Korean, the song spins a tale of trying to accept a change in your life for what it is, with lyrics like “my tearful steps, don’t stop you anymore.” and “Even if I try to accept it and hold onto it, I decide to let it go.” The music video showcases this gloomy yet beautiful image with snowy, wintery scenes. Starting with a gentle acoustic guitar and ending with a deeper, more earthy-sounding guitar solo, the instrumental only adds to this lonely and peaceful take on growth.
I.M And Heize
Heize and I.M previously collaborated on ‘Distance’ from Heize’s 2022 album, Undo. Both artists really pride themselves on being a part of the creation of their work and are heavily credited throughout their respective discographies. Their collaborations are no different! Just like on ‘Distance,’ both I.M and Heize worked on ‘Slowly!’ Heize is credited for the lyrics and composition, and I.M is credited for lyrics, composition, and arrangement!
