She’s taken over our screens, our hearts, and our Letterboxd diaries, and now Kate Hudson is ready to take over all our playlists! We’re so excited that she’s officially made her musical debut with the sunny ‘Talk About Love,’ which will be the perfect soundtrack for afternoon drives when the weather gets warmer. It captures the exciting rush of new love in such a beautiful way that gives us butterflies! Her voice sounds incredible and emotive, while the lyrics draw you right into the story with romantic imagery that would give Shakespeare a run for his money.
Listening to ‘Talk About Love’ feels like you’re sitting on a beach with your crush and talking about your plans for the weekend, which, of course, involve each other. It’s the promise of a passionate, yet comforting, future as you cherish your feelings and make the most of your time together!
You only have one first single, and I wanted it to be something delicious and sexy and all the things that I believe in. I wanted it to be open and seeking, searching to find something powerful. But I also wanted the music to be the rock, the pop, the dance music and even a bit of the alternative records I love. It was a lot to put into one song, but thankfully, I had some wonderful people working with me. And so, here we are!

There’s something so full-circle about the superstar who played Penny Lane in Almost Famous stepping into her own musical spotlight, and we’re absolutely living for it! Though we know Kate from her acting skills, she’s loved music for ages, so it’s only natural that she’s making some of her own. She says she’s “always had a room for [her] piano ever since [she] began living on [her] own” and decided to make the jump for this new chapter of her career after Linda Perry (who co-wrote ‘Talk About Love’ with Kate and Danny Fujikawa) encouraged her to do so. Where can we send her a thank you card?!
How do you ever know? And then one day, you’re writing, and you think, ‘Now.’ Linda challenged me to write a full album once she heard me sing and that’s when I decided to complete the song cycle. It might’ve been crazy to some, but once I committed, all the songs, the sounds, and even the way the recording process came together, the timing was right.

The timing was so right, and we’re so thankful that Kate is finally stepping onto the music scene!
