16 Love Lessons We Took Away From Justin Bieber’s CHANGES

Happy Valentine’s Day! 🩷 During this season of love, we are so deeply in love with our faves that we can never say no to them. We celebrate all their success with many deserved flowers 💐, but there is one in particular that takes us back to February 2020. There is only one Justin Bieber album that forever changed our lives, and that’s CHANGES. When this album dropped in February 2020, it was the sweetest R&B surprise! The sounds explored by Bieber were not something fans heard since Journals (RIP 🪦), and something we’ve been begging for since.

In each of the 16 songs, we learned many lessons that changed us for the better.

‘All Around Me’

“From my home to the road/I’ll make sure you’re comfortable/You make sure I’m comfortable/Our love’s unconditional/I need you all around me/All around me, yeah”

The CHANGES album opens on a high note with ‘All Around Me.’ Listen, if we could have Justin all around us too, we would 👀. By the end of this song, we learned the power of unconditional love and accepting your partner for who they truly are. In every flaw, you should want your partner all around you.

‘Habitual’

“Just to think that we’ve been out here, this whole time/Working through the seasons/Never cross paths, ’til we had a reason/Now let’s fast forward, look up a whole new perspective for life”

Up next, one of our favorite tracks on the album, ‘Habitual’ reminds us to change our perspective on life, which will ultimately open new doors that we’ve never seen before. In these doors, 🚪 we may just find what we are looking for – success, love, wealth, family, and all prosperity. Work through each season, the good and the bad, until you find exactly what makes you happy.

‘Come Around Me’

“When you come around me/Treat me like you miss me/Even though you been with me/When you come around me/Do me like you miss me/Even though you been with me”

This track reminds us to have fun with our lovers! Life is short, and enjoying every moment you have with your partner is what matters most in this life. Even if this song just reminds you to enjoy each moment with a bestie, or your family members, always take Dr. Bieber’s 🩺 advice.

‘Intentions’ featuring Quavo

“Picture perfect, you don’t need no filter/Gorgeous, make ’em drop dead, you’re a killer/Shower you with all my attention/Yeah, these are my only intentions/Stay in the kitchen cookin’ up, got your own bread/Heart full of equity or an asset/Make sure that you don’t need no mentions/ Yeah, these are my only intentions”

The most well-known song from the album, ‘Intentions,’ has over 1 billion streams on Spotify and holds the #1 place in our hearts 💞. If there is one thing this song taught us, it’s to be intentional…about our intentions (or something like that). Wishing the best for the one we love and always affirming them is critical to a healthy relationship.

‘Yummy’

“Hop in the Lambo, I’m on my way/Drew House slippers on with a smile on my face/I’m elated that you are my lady/You got the yum, yum, yum, yum/You got the yum, yum, yum, whoa/Whoa-ooh”

Even fans still struck by Bieber Fever 🤒 can acknowledge that this song is only for fun. It’s good to have a light-hearted pop track mixed in with the more serious and lovey-dovey ballads, and with ‘Yummy,’ Justin hit it right on the head! This carefree track reminds us that life is not so serious, and neither is love. Allowing your relationship with your partner to be rooted in childish fun, with some yummy treats in hand and Drew House slippers on your feet along the way, is what makes falling in love 💏 so fun!

‘Available’

“I get frustrated when your’e busy/Lately that’s been more than often, baby, what is this?/It’s like, do you even miss me?/Feelin’ less than priority, you got me convinced/Convinced I’m the only one, trippin’ in my head/Because in reality, you live in my bed/I’m supposed to hold on to everything you said/Yes or no question, don’t leave it unread”

Letting go of anxiety and getting out of your head can help a relationship stay in a smooth sail. If you ever feel “less than priority,” don’t hesitate to communicate with your partner and let them know what’s up! Wow, Justin’s lyrics really are our number one form of therapy! 🤧

‘Forever’ feat. Post Malone and CLEVER

“Never thought I’d settle down/Reckon I lied to myself/I was busy focusing on being by myself/Set my feelings to the side they all got dusty on a shelf/You wiped them down when I had nothing left”

Some of our favorite JB songs feature Post Malone! The two artists have been friends since the Purpose tour in 2016 and, since then, have put out a number of songs together. Their voices blend so well, so much so that we beg Justin if he’s reading this, to make more music with Posty! ‘Forever’ teaches us that it’s okay to focus on yourself, but to not ignore your emotions along the way. Setting your feelings aside on a dusty shelf can ruin your self-esteem and self-confidence, which is not good for yourself or a healthy relationship.

‘Running Over’ feat. Lil Dicky

“Look out, watch out, got me on the defense/Thought love at first sight was just a false pretense/Took my hat off, made me pledge allegiance/Everything was in divine sequence”

‘Running Over’ stans unite! This song does not get as much love as it should, so today, we’re throwing it all the flowers! 🌻🌼 Featuring the masterful Lil Dicky, this song reminds us that love at first sight just might be real. I mean, when we first saw Justin, it was certainly so! Finding your soulmate will happen at the right time and in the perfect divine moment.

‘Take It Out On Me’

“Let your frustrations out right here/I’m your psychiatrist, let’s talk about it/We can use sign language, I know your body/I see the weight weighin’ on your shoulders/It’s so heavy/Let me be the meaning of your composure/Oh, oh”

Yes, Justin is our psychiatrist, especially when it comes to teaching us about love. ‘Take It Out On Me’ teaches us that life and be a hard burden to carry, and it’s okay to share that with your partner. Having bad days ⛈️ is normal and something we all experience. Feeling comfortable enough to share that with a partner will help ease your tension and worries.

‘Second Emotion’

“Got me feeling giddy like, la, la, la, la (yeah)/Struck a match it got me litty like, la, la, la, la (it’s lit)/You got the keys to my city like, la, la, la, la (straight up)/Do you second that emotion, baby? (Yeah)”

Another one of our favorite tracks on the CHANGES album, ‘Second Emotion,’ teaches us that your partner should be just as excited and in love with you as you are with them. They should second your emotions every time, and if they don’t, then maybe it’s time to move on. You should always feel litty and giddy with the one you love!

‘Get Me’ featuring Kelani

“See, you lookin’ beyond the surface/Can tell by the questions you’re asking, you got me low-key nervous/It feels like we’re on the same wave, yeah/Never intended to relate, I mean, what are the chances?/Never thought I’d connect with you, not in these circumstances”

The eleventh track on the album teaches us that we may just fall in love with the person we least expect to relate to. If that person gets you and understands you for who you truly are, you may be looking at the right person. Justin reminds us to look beyond the surface of someone and love them for what’s underneath.

‘E.T.A’

“I just wanna know your E.TA., E.T.A/Out the window, got me looking out the street/What’s your E.T.A.?/Distance only made us grow fonder/Of one another/Be honest, what’s your E.T.A.?/What’s your E.T.A.?”

This next track teaches us about long distance and the struggles that come with it. If you are in a long-distance relationship, you may be constantly eager to see your partner and ask what their ‘E.T.A’ is all the time! However, it’s important to remember that distance can make the heart grow fonder and that your love conquers all miles. Drop that pin 📍

‘Changes’

“I just wanna be the best of me/Even though sometimes, we might disagree/So that I can be the best for you/That’s all I wanna do/I’m going through changes/I’m going through changes/Though I’m going through changes/Don’t mean that I changed”

The title track of the album, ‘Changes’ tears at our delicate heartstrings. Even our favorite idols, like Justin, go through significant changes and meet their lowest. In love, even your partner will go through changes that make them seem like a different person. Being there for them through it all is what’s most important because one day, you will also “go through changes.”

‘Confirmation’

“Quit acting like we’re in a race/Begging me you know I am on the way over/Take a moment to cherish this space/So quick to move forward, no pressure and/We’ve got the rest (Hey, hey)/Got the rest, got the rest of our lives”

This beautiful song calms us down when we need it most. ‘Confirmation’ reminds us to take things slowly and enjoy each moment. Love is so beautiful and rare that rushing through everything might make us miss the sweetest moments. Love is not a race, and there is “no pressure” to move quickly.

‘Thats What Love Is’

“Ooh, and you can trust me/After all the lies I told you/Yeah, that’s what love is/That’s what true love is/Don’t nobody else deserve my time/I reach out to you/But my hands can’t hold enough/Enough of your greatness/You teach me patience/Like the best of our worlds collide”

All relationships, romantic or not, are a series of give and take and require a great amount of patience. Love means a lot of things, but one of them is being able to honor the greatness of your partner, even through the flaws that shine through. If you can feel the aura of your partner all around you, even when they are not around, that means you’re in love, baby! 🤭

‘At Least For Now’

“Never mind me watching you, never mind the tension/Please excuse me while I dance, I forgot to mention/I’m going on strike/At least for now/Trying to avoid disappointment/At least for now”

For now, the album is coming to a close with ‘At Least For Now.’ We’ve just dissected 15 songs about what it really means to be in love, and our final song teaches us that it’s okay to step away from love. Sometimes, it’s more important to focus on yourself than on another person. It’s hard to leave the one you love, but “for now,” it may be what’s best. If it’s meant to be, you’ll always find your way back to the one who holds your heart ❤️.

Whew, we just took you on a rollercoaster of emotions! If you are spending this special day of love with your partner, make sure to re-listen to CHANGES and take the lessons along with you.
