Remembering Watching Movies With The Sound Off And Every Reason Why We Love Mac Miller

Let’s take it back to June 18, 2013, when Mac Miller released his second studio album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off. Miller described the album as deeply personal and listeners could understand why. The rapper had always been honest and raw in his music even from the beginning when he was singing about graduating high school, but something about this second album really hit home. We could go on and on about how much Mac’s music means to us, so let’s take a trip down memory lane and honor his legacy all the ways Mac has touched our hearts.

The Blue Slide

Mac’s legacy will live on forever amid the joyful screams of children at the blue slide in Frick Park, Pittsburgh, PA. In 2019 the playground was memorialized for the late rapper and in honor of his album Blue Slide Park, released in 2011, – an ode to his favorite playground growing up in Pittsburgh. This portion of the playground is now known as “Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park,” a name that most fans will hold dear in their hearts when brought up 💙. Today, fans can visit the park, drop flowers and notes, and spread Mac’s contagious laugh around.

“Back to Blue Slide Park, the only place I call home”

If you had the opportunity to visit the park, what would you leave behind for Mac?💐

Circles

One of our favorite Mac projects, Circles, was released posthumously in January 2020. During our first listen, the songs instantly meant something different. Tracks like ‘Good News,’ ‘Complicated,’ ‘Hand Me Downs,’ and ‘Surf’ quickly became our favorites and have since become some of our comfort songs.

The album was meant to be sort of a sister album to the iconic Swimming ✈️ and we can definitely see where Mac’s intentions lie. The entirety of Circles truly feels like Mac reached down from the clouds to give us a hug, and we couldn’t ask for anything more from him. If you are a new Mac Miller fan and are looking for a great place to start, we recommend Circles for your first immersive Mac listening experience.
