ONF Reveal Their Inner Monster With Beautiful Shadow

Every time ONF makes a comeback, we know we’re going to have a great time. They simply never fail. The release of Beautiful Shadow further proves it. Not only is ONF giving us absolute masterpieces, but they’re also evolving and trying different things, and we’re so happy to be here to enjoy every part of it!

‘Bye My Monster’

ONF genuinely have a diverse and varied discography, and with every comeback, we never know what side of them we will get – we just know it’s gonna slap. And ‘Bye My Monster’ did exactly that. This title track falls in the darker side of ONF‘s discography, but it is unlike any of their other title tracks. It starts softly with a piano melody and goes into a heartwrenching pop-rock chorus. Their vocals embody the feelings of pain and self-hatred perfectly as they sing about thinking someone they love would be better off without them. The inclusion of strings throughout the song gives ‘Bye My Monster’ a tragic side and makes the track feel even more dramatic. Several unexpected moments in the song feel incredibly special – that bridge is gold. Ultimately, ‘Bye My Monster’ is full of vulnerability and raw emotions. It’s a bold choice for a title track but we’re so happy they went for something like ‘Bye My Monster’ because ONF pulled it off like no one else could

Beautiful Shadow

ONF explore even more with their sound in the b-sides of Beautiful Shadow. ‘Aphrodite’ captures your attention from the first second with its dark aura. It also took us one second to know this song would be our new obsession. ‘Aphrodite’ takes you to so many different places as it seamlessly mixes genres and influences. This groovy dance track goes so hard—the perfect ONF track, if you ask us.

Surprisingly, ONF decided to give us one of their most powerful ballads not as a closing track but as the second b-side. ‘Breath, Haze & Shadow’ showcases their incredible vocals beautifully, giving us a raw and vulnerable piano ballad. If you weren’t aware yet of how incredible vocalists they are, ‘Breath, Haze & Shadow’ will give you an idea. On the other hand, ‘Chemical Type’ is here to pick the energy in the best way possible. This is the brightest track in Beautiful Shadow. It’s a fun track full of charisma. It’s hard not to fall for this witty love song.

Beautiful Shadow closes off with an ode to music, ‘Slave To The Rhythm.’ With a hint of retro, this b-side is straight-up a song perfect for the club. It’s groovy, it’s dance, and it’s impossible not to absolutely vibe to this track. ONF know how to serve with ballads, but they clearly know how to bring the energy to an all-time high.

While ‘Bye My Monster’ is dark and dramatic, the b-sides in Beautiful Shadow give us a broad spectrum of ONF’s diverse music. It’s one of those comebacks that is able to showcase everything that we love about ONF, and they make us fall in love even more with them. ‘Bye My Monster’ and Beautiful Shadow is a genius comeback.
