The Shacklewell Arms in Hackney, London played host to JC Stewart for two nights running, and we were there for all the action! With such a perfect setting for intimate gigs, JC managed to capture this essence perfectly. Everyone sang along to every song, creating a night everyone walked away from, smiling.
JC Stewart took two years away from music but spent those two years writing and creating, which made for a spectacular setlist! We were blessed to have witnessed a mix of older songs, alongside the newer hits he’d written during his break. JC said that he wasn’t sure what to do with his music during his break, until he realised he could just release it… so that’s exactly what he did! We’re so excited to see what he releases in the future too.
These shows seem to have set him up perfectly for his upcoming gig at Bush Hall, Shepherds Bush, later this year. If you haven’t already, you can buy tickets here.
If you like artists such as George Ezra, we promise you’ll like JC too. With such smooth vocals, he filled the room with such beautiful music. He even joined everyone for one song in the middle of the room, ‘BT45,’ which he claimed wrote to try and make his sister cry! The room fell silent whilst he wasn’t attached to a microphone, to sing this acoustic rendition. Whilst silence fell, pure adoration was radiating from everyone.
With songs like ‘Play Dead’ & ‘Medicine,’ he kept everyone in their feels. Most of the show was guitar-led, but JC sprinkled a handful of songs on keyboard throughout too. The show was a perfect mix of buttery smooth vocals, acoustic jams and high emotions. JC Stewart kept everyone engaged, explaining a little of every song, life stories and his past with his band members. It felt like we all knew parts of him, like we were watching a good friend on stage.
Personally, we can’t wait for him to return later this year, hopefully we’ll see him again! And we know we always say this, but we really don’t mean to give people FOMO! We just love music, we love concerts and we love artists who connect with the crowd. So when JC manages to create great music, at a little concert, whilst connecting with his audience, all our boxes are ticked.
