Childhood Nostalgia
Let’s talk about your new single, ‘2 Thousand 10.’ It plays on one of our greatest weaknesses, nostalgia! What is something that you get nostalgic about?
I get really nostalgic about the simpler times of my childhood. Riding bikes with my friends, my old MP3 player, and just being a kid in the early 2000s.
The track is nostalgic lyrically, but also sonically, what tracks were you listening to and drawing inspiration from while trying to encapsulate that period in music?
‘First Date’ by Blink 182 and ‘1985’ by Bowling for Soup. I was diving into a lot of early 2000s hits, especially pop-punk and rock hits. I wanted something that felt light and summery but would always slap to hear live.
If ‘2 Thousand 10’ was featured in one of your favorite movies/tv shows, which one do you think it would fit best in?
Probably a movie like Accepted or Old School.
‘2 thousand 10’ is an anthem about wanting to relive being a kid. Do you have any favorite childhood memories you would like to share?
One of my favorite memories is spending summer days at the lake with my friends.

Touring The World
You are hot off a headlining tour! What is something that occurred during that period on the road that you are going to carry with you?
One of the most memorable moments was an acoustic jam I had with fans after the Hong Kong show. That sense of community and connection is something I’m always searching for.
You’ve traveled all around the world to perform. What’s the most exciting part about performing your songs internationally?
The most exciting part is seeing how music transcends language and cultural barriers.
You’re going to be playing at BST HYDE PARK with some pretty awesome artists who are you most excited to see perform?
I’m so sad because I missed Stevie Nicks on Friday night, and seeing her would’ve been amazing! Stray Kids energy was crazy and watching the crowd lose their minds was so fun.
We at The Honey Pop have a team from all over the world, where’s your favorite city to play shows? Do you have a dream place to visit on tour?
Touring in Asia was really eye opening. It’s tough to pick favorites because the energy is so different everywhere. Montreal is always an incredible city to play. Singapore was so loud. Manila was out of control and so fun. Each place has its own unique vibe.
Let’s Talk About Songwriting
You wear a few different hats, being both a musician and a producer, do you think that having experience on both ends helps during the creative process?
Absolutely. Being a producer allows me to have a clear vision of how I want my music to sound and, as a musician, I can bring that vision to life. It’s a double-edged sword sometimes because the choices can be endless and daunting, but at the end of the day, I love the control.
What song would you let play in your head ‘24/7, 365’ days a year?
“Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac
You wittily spell out I love you in ‘ilu,’ to then follow through with the lyric “Spelling out what I can’t say.” What’s one word you always have trouble spelling out when it comes to songwriting?
License. I can never remember if the s or c comes first, haha.
Rise To Fame
You’re still pretty new to the scene, how have you dealt with such a rapid rise in popularity?
Having a great support system of family and friends has also been crucial in helping me navigate this weird industry.
You’ve had lots of success in your career so far, what was one of the “I made it” moments for you?
Hearing my song on the radio for the first time was definitely a surreal and magical moment.

Now we’re all ready for the upcoming album to be released, in Elijah’s words, “soon.” All we can hope is that “soon” doesn’t take too long, because we can’t wait to consume everything Elijah writes.
