Oh, how we have missed Shawn Mendes. He started dropping teasers about a week ago and we were ecstatic. We hoped it meant new music but we never dreamed we’d get an entire album announcement! Shawn is coming on October 18th and while that feels so far away, we’ll get to enjoy parts of it early with ‘Why Why Why’ and ‘Isn’t That Enough.’ The singles drop on 8.8.24 aka Shawn’s birthday! His birthday but we’re getting a gift? Incredible.
And if that’s not enough for you (ha ha) we already have a video for ‘Isn’t That Enough’ that serves as an official album trailer for Shawn.
‘Isn’t That Enough’
If ‘Isn’t That Enough’ is any indication of what the rest of the album will sound like we are SO excited. Shawn Mendes in his folk era perhaps? Shawn will be a collection of tracks that are the product of his travels and experiences over the last few years. It will also likely be his most honest and intimate album to date. We missed Shawn so much but we’re so glad that he took the time he needed! We will always support artists, and everyone else, stepping back to take care of themselves.
Music really can be medicine. Two years ago, I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago, I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift. Honestly thank god for my friends and family. Life can be brutal but having a small group of people you deeply trust to walk you through makes it so much better. I really hope you love this album, I do. I really really do. I hope it makes you feel warm and close to the earth like it does for me.

Shawn is an album that’s been two years in the making. It came together in a bunch of locations from Costa Rica to the iconic Electric Lady in New York City. We can’t wait to see the story that Shawn Mendes tells in this album and we’re so happy that he found his way back to music.
We also think it’s pretty iconic that he’s now going to have two self-titled albums and it will be interesting to see how the two differ sonically, narratively, and even visually. While 2018’s Shawn Mendes had a more vibrant color scheme with the flowers, Shawn, so far, is black and white in its visuals. It’s also shaping up to be a really raw and vulnerable album so we’re excited to see what Shawn has in store.
In addition to the announcement Shawn dropped this beautiful vinyl you can pre-order and you can pre-save the songs as well! He also announced a small run of theater shows where he’ll be playing the album in full for some lucky fans in intimate theater settings!
