We’ve barely had time to get over all the masterpieces in You had me at HELLO, but ZEROBASEONE aren’t wasting a single second: they’re back with their fourth mini-album, CINEMA PARASIDE. Once again, ZEROBASEONE proves growth while giving us some of the most upbeat and joyful songs ever. ZEROBASEONE really came here to brighten our days, and we’re accepting it with open arms – especially when the music is this good.
‘GOOD SO BAD’
Actually, there’s nothing bad about ‘GOOD SO BAD’ – it’s all good. ZEROBASEONE truly masters the bright concepts, and this is yet another instance of it. With a funky sound and an addictive synth, they create the perfect retro yet refreshing atmosphere as they sing about getting lost in their love. ‘GOOD SO BAD’ is not only pop perfection, it’s also such a feel-good song that there is no way it won’t brighten up your day. The bridge might be short, but it has the perfect impact and ties the entire song together beautifully. ‘GOOD SO BAD’ is ZEROBASEONE at its best in all aspects: vocals, choreography, energy, and aesthetic. We’re obsessed.
No wonder the mini-album is titled CINEMA PARADISE: ZEROBASEONE gave us an absolute cinematic masterpiece with the music video for ‘GOOD SO BAD.’ They did not hold back. The whole concept behind the music video is how the ZB1 members are characters controlled by a writer. So, we see them in different settings and circumstances. Not only does it take inspiration from various movies and media, but it puts the members in fun circumstances, and every set is absolutely gorgeous. They really did create CINEMA PARADISE with this one.
CINEMA PARADISE
You would think ‘GOOD SO BAD’ is a tough song to follow up with how good it is, but it’s a piece of cake for a song like ‘KILL THE ROMEO.’ This incredibly infectious song mixes fun with a darker atmosphere, giving us an unforgettable and impactful drop in the chorus. Its concept is also fun and unique as ZB1 twists the Romeo & Juliet story where they want to replace Romeo. The song absolutely explodes by the end, almost giving it a festival feel to it. ‘KILL THE ROMEO’ is hands down one of the biggest highlights in CINEMA PARADISE.
‘The Sea’ is ZEROBASEONE’s take on a 1997 song by the Korean group UP. This version feels extremely joyful and refreshing. ‘The Sea’ is pure pop fun and simply a perfect addition to the mini-album to keep the energy bright. It is followed up by ‘Insomnia,’ a synth-pop banger. It’s all about being so in love with someone that you can’t stop thinking about them and can’t sleep. It gives way to infectious and joyful melodies serving retro pop perfection.

‘Road Movie’ is by far the most unique and surprising song in the mini-album. While the beginning showcases a sound reminiscent of old movies, they break the expectations completely with hard-hitting loud chants as they sing about the trip that is chasing their dreams. The initial sound comes back in the pre-chorus, and let us tell you this might be the best pre-chorus in ZB1’s entire discography. The vocals in that pre-chorus are to die for.
Every mini-album needs a soft moment, and ‘Eternity’ is exactly that. This song is a beautiful pop song with addictive and gorgeous melodies to showcase their emotional vocals. ‘Eternity’ is not only uplifting and filled with love, but it also feels like a hug. CINEMA PARADISE wraps up with the Korean version of ZEROBASEONE‘s debut Japanese track, ‘Yura Yura,’ released earlier this year. And if you didn’t know about the banger that this song is before, this is your time to get obsessed with it. ‘Yura Yura’ is another instance of ZEROBASEONE serving the most fun pop ever.
With releases like these, it’s no mystery why ZEROBASEONE is one of the biggest groups of the 5th gen. CINEMA PARADISE is another mini-album filled with talent, uplifting energy, and unique moments. ZEROBASEONE keeps getting better and surprising us through the process. CINEMA PARADISE is, hands down, their best moment yet.
