At this point, we’re pretty sure it’s no secret how much we love both indie pop and Latin artists, so of course when we heard about Blu Jay, we just had to share her music with you! Blu Jay is a Brazilian-American singer, songwriter, and actress based in LA who’s been making waves in the industry and capturing our hearts in the process.
Mixing the classic indie pop sound we know and love with influences from her Brazilian roots, creating a unique sound that quickly makes its way into our hearts. Since her breakthrough single, ‘All In My Head,’ Blu Jay established herself as one to watch in the music scene, and now with ‘MPSF’ we can clearly see that the only way for her is up.
‘MPSF,’ or ‘Money, Power, Sex, Fame,’ is social commentary in song form, which we always love to see. And the clear Lana Del Rey influences are just the icing on the cake. Blu Jay’s dreamy vocals carry us through the various criticisms she makes of the way the mainstream views relationships these days with catchy and cheeky lyrics.
One thing that drew us to Blu Jay and her work is the fact that she is creative in so many areas. As we said before, she’s also a very accomplished actress and has her own clothing line (which we’re obsessed with) called Baby Daddy Momma Drama, which features bold hand-painted designs that we feel perfectly encapsulates her vibe.
