Pixie Lott debuted her 4th studio album at an intimate album-release show in London. Performing to a packed-out crowd in such a small venue made the show feel much more personal. The production was still as incredible as you’d want it to be at an arena show, with backup vocalists and a full band, the energy never dipped.
She scattered songs like ‘Cry Me Out’ and ‘Girls and Boys’ throughout the setlist. Of course, focusing on Encino was the goal, with Pixie playing almost all of the album, we were taken through the motions. ‘Happy’ being all about appreciating the little things in life, to ‘Blockbuster Video’ being the nostalgic hit we all so desperately crave. Pixie Lott dedicated some songs to her husband and her son, who celebrated his first birthday the same weekend she debuted Encino.
Right after the show finished, everyone headed over to Junkyard in Camden. An after-show party was hosted by Pixie and her incredible team to celebrate the album. There was a menu full of themed cocktails named after track titles. ‘Encino,’ ‘Coco,’ ‘Blockbuster Video,’ and ‘Midnight Trash’ were all beautifully served in glasses that seemed to capture the essence of the album perfectly.
To plan a whole evening is an incredible thing to do. From a fully produced concert to hosting an after-party, flawlessly, everything ran smoothly, and everyone had fun. To spread it across two venues too, we cannot fault Pixie’s evening one bit.
Encino is Pixie’s first release in 10 years, to say it’d been highly anticipated would be an understatement. Her vocals throughout the album are strong, from belts to melodies to softer tones. The album takes you through every emotion, whilst allowing you to sit with those emotions for long enough. There’s no sense of whiplash, and the theming throughout takes you on a smooth journey through love, nostalgia, hurt, and happiness.
