We’ve been absolutely obsessed with Atlanta bedroom pop artist, Jillian Loux ever since the release of ‘Help Me Remember.’ It’s an absolute banger and if you haven’t listened to it already, you need to ASAP. We’re buzzing with excitement because we’re bringing you an exclusive interview with Jillian! We talk about her new song, her EP Granted, and more! Let’s dive right in!
Hi and welcome to The Honey POP! We’re so excited to chat with you! For our readers who may have not listened to your music yet, could you introduce yourself?
Hey! My name is Jillian Loux and I’m a singer/songwriter from Atlanta, GA!
When did you decide that you wanted to pursue music as a career?
I had been writing songs since before I could spell. I loved expressing myself musically and understood that I would always keep music in my life. I’ve just recently begun to process the fact that I can pursue it as a career which has been really exciting to navigate.
Which artist(s) inspire your music?
I like to pull from darker chords more than upbeat ones. And maybe that’s because as a child I was drawn to artists who do the same like Amy Winehouse and Adele. More recently I’ve been loving and feeling inspired by SZA, Raye, Dominic Fike, and Sabrina Claudio.
Your music video for your latest single, ‘Help Me Remember’ was so fun. What was the filming process like?
It was pretty surreal honestly. I still can’t believe we made that video happen and I’m so grateful to have had that opportunity. Filming was kind of nerve-racking at first but when I let myself lean into the role it felt almost natural and super fun.
You had virtual writing sessions over the span of two years. But you wrote and recorded your EP in one week, which is so impressive! What was that process like?
Writing over Zoom vs. being on location does feel different because it’s a bit more vulnerable. However, I can honestly say that writing week felt so freeing and beautiful. Everyday we got to be creative with new melodies that flowed almost effortlessly. The talented people around me made the process feel easy and therapeutic in a way.
What’s your favorite song off of your upcoming EP, Granted?
My favorite song is probably ‘11/24 Godspeed’. It’s the last song on the EP because I think it wraps it up in a very honest and beautiful way.
Do you have a favorite lyric from it?
“Wish me god speed, This aint my dream, No thanks not me, Sh*t got crazy.”
What do you hope listeners take away from the EP?
I hope listeners consider this EP to have a solid foundation of songs and that this musical journey is worth keeping up with.

Last year, you released a collab with Hayden James and we absolutely love it! If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be and why?
There are so many people but right now I’m gonna say Sabrina Claudio or Ayra Starr because I’ve been listening to them non-stop. Their vibes are so cool and their songs consistently pop up in my head.
Last question! We believe in the power of manifestation. If you could speak one thing into existence for yourself, what would it be?
That I travel and write music with talented ass people more and more. That’s ultimately what I love doing and I can only hope people want to listen. (Also I love this, thank you.)
We’d like to thank Jillian for taking the time to chat with us! How much do you love her new EP, Granted? Let us know in the comments, on Facebook, Instagram, or by tweeting us @thehoneypop!
