Don’t be mad at us. We’re only hopping on the Sam Fender train now, but listen, we are full-on the conductor of this train! Now that we’re totally Sam Fender-obsessed, we’ve been patiently waiting for new music. Fender’s latest drop, ‘Wild Long Lie,’ is everything we didn’t know we needed from our new favorite musician!

Here are our top 3 favorite lyrics from ‘Wild Long Lie’ and what we hope to hear from Sam in the near future.

Sam’s music is basically poetry at this point. Sometimes we have no idea what he’s saying (because he’s just that smart), but this time we are fully locked in. 

“I think I need to leave this town, ‘Fore I go down”

Like many listeners, this is a lyric the hive can relate to. Growing up means growing out of things that once felt like home. Leaving home can feel so scary, but once you’re out, you’re a changed person. We love how beautifully Sam put this feeling into words that we can relate to. 

“But it’s drowning every inch of my soul”

The “soul” is not a physical thing that we can see, but this lyric allows us to envision what the soul may look like. Lies, like many things, can make us feel like we’re drowning, and Sam captured this in the most devastating way.
