Sam Fender Live in Finsbury Park Makes Us Feel Better Than ‘Alright’

Since its release in late 2021, Sam Fender’s Seventeen Going Under album has received nothing but success and critical acclaim. The flawless sophomore album has received numerous accolades, including an Ivor Novello award for songwriting, Sam’s second BRIT award, and a nomination for the prestigious Mercury Prize. Now, a year on from its release, Sam is gearing up to bless us with a special new edition of his amazing album, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Titled Seventeen Going Under (Live Deluxe), the new edition will feature live versions of the original album’s tracklist as well as two new songs. The album was recorded at his epic sold-out Finsbury Park show that took place in August and is perfect for anyone who didn’t get to attend in person. The album is set to release on December 9th, and we at THP are definitely going to be counting down the days until we can add it to our music libraries.

In anticipation of the new album, Sam has given his fans a taster of what he has in store with the release of ‘Alright (Live From Finsbury Park)’ and its accompanying visualizer. Sam describes ‘Alright’ as a song about cheating death, with the lyrics referencing themes such as growing up and mental health issues. While only released on the deluxe edition, ‘Alright’ is one of Sam’s personal favorites and is a perfect example of his thoughtful and introspective lyrical style.

As well as this song, Sam has also released a live version of ‘Getting Started’ and is set to release a total of sixteen live recordings on the new album. In terms of physical copies, Seventeen Going Under (Live Deluxe) will also be released as a standalone double-colored vinyl and a double CD.
