Olly Murs is back, and dare we say it, better than ever! His newest release, ‘I Hate You When You’re Drunk,‘ is the exact kind of track we’ve come to expect from him. The release of this track comes right before Murs’s newest album, Marry Me, which drops on December 2nd. This track touches on the kind of secondhand embarrassment we’ve all been victims of once or twice, maybe even more, in our lives.
Whether it’s that friend who gets too drunk and starts a fight, the one who starts sobbing, the dancing on top of a table, or the trauma dumping to the whole room friend. It makes you think, “Wow, I really hate you when you’re drunk.” Olly had this to say about the track:
“I thought it was a fun song to write as there have been so many times where a friend, family member or loved one has had one too many,” says Olly. “It’s a light-hearted take from the sober person’s point of view. We all know someone!!!!”
– Olly Murs

This new track comes after the release of ‘Die of a Broken Heart‘ last month. And to say we haven’t stopped listening to that on a loop is truthfully an understatement. Marry Me is Olly’s first album in four years, and so far, it’s giving. Even though Olly himself is happily in love and engaged to be married, his writing about broken hearts? Absolutely smacks.
Which of the two singles from Marry Me is your current obsession? Ours, to probably no one’s surprise, is ‘I Hate You When You’re Drunk.’ Let us know your pick in the comments below! Or let us know by sending us a Tweet on Twitter @thehoneypop! Or on Instagram or Facebook.
