Got ‘Time To Kill?’ Get To Know Kamille: The New Addition To Your Stan List

2023 really is the year of Kamille. She’s already dropped some serious bangers including ‘Options‘ featuring Tasmera and Bellah, which made it to our summer soundtrack. She also enlisted the legendary Nile Rodgers for ‘Muscle Memory,’ her first release of the year. There’s just one month to go until she drops her debut mini-album K1 but our girl is keeping us fed because she’s just dropped her new single ‘Time To Kill,’ and it is everything.

‘Time To Kill’ is a continuation of this sound of funky soul beats that ooze of nostalgia reminiscent of the famous 80’s disco pop that seems to be shaping up the expectations of K1 as a whole. Speaking about the single in a press release, the award-winning singer-songwriter shares: “I love that feeling when you just want to spend all your time with the one you love, when time feels like it stands still. This song is all about embracing that moment.”

While we wait for the release of K1, stick ‘Time To Kill’ on repeat and spend some time getting to know the icon that is Kamille.

Her Breakout As A Songwriter Was 10 Years Ago With The Saturdays

It’s been 10 years since Kamille worked with British girl group, The Saturdays on their electro-pop single ‘What About Us’ from their album Living For The Weekend. The song later had a version with Sean Paul as a feature and earned both The Saturdays and Kamille their first number-one. This song was a staple in British summer playlists and truly captured the vibes of that era. We still love to listen to it over a decade later!

She Gets Candid On TikTok Talking About Her Music And Songwriting

@kamilleofficial Replying to @Alex Loveless the pro still outweighs every con tho so LET’S GO 🔥🔥🔥😭😭😭 #behindthesong #blackgirlmagic #artist #producer #songwriter ♬ KAMILLE Options Demo – KAMILLE

One thing we absolutely love about Kamille is how she connects to her fans. You can often find her on TikTok getting really candid, sharing stories from the studio, music industry tips, and really pulling back the curtain of where the magic is made. She gets pretty honest and doesn’t sugarcoat things which is something, so refreshing to see on social media where we are often made to think everything is perfect in people’s lives. She also posts things from her day-to-day life such as a linen closet tour, trying restaurant food, and casual vlogs which really shows just how down-to-earth and human she is. We love to binge her content before bedtime!

She’s Worked With A Number Of Big Names

Kamille has worked with a number of big names, and odds are she’s worked with your faves. She’s penned lyrics and produced music for the likes of Little Mix, Dua Lipa, RAYE, Stormzy, Anne-Marie, CNCO, Jax Jones, and Olly Murs to name just a few! Her work for these multiple artists has, in turn, earned them a lot of success, with some of her most notable works being Little Mix’s ‘Shoutout To My Ex’ and ‘Black Magic.’ Not only that, but also Jess Glynne’s ‘I’ll Be There,’ Clean Bandit‘s ‘Solo’ featuring Demi Lovato, Mabel, and Steve Mac’s ‘Don’t Call Me Up.’ But wait, we aren’t done yet: David Guetta and Bebe Rexha’s, ‘I’m Good (Blue),’ and FLO‘s ‘Flygirl’ featuring Missy Elliot. Kamille’s co-writing and co-production contributions have accumulated over 10 billion streams 6 UK No. 1 singles, 10 UK No.1 albums, and 34 tracks reaching platinum status. We stan a talented, successful queen!

She’s A Multi-Award Winner

Thanks to her work on Dua Lipa‘s Future Nostalgia, Kamille is a GRAMMY winner for Pop Vocal Album 2021! In addition to that, she’s also won other incredible awards such as a BRIT award for her work on Little Mix’s ‘Shoutout To My Ex,’ an ASCAP Foundation Stone Award back in 2013 (her breakout year as a songwriter), a BMI Pop Award for her contributions to Little Mix’s ‘Black Magic,’ and a Music Week Women In Music Award for Music Creative. We told you she’s iconic!

She’s The Secret Member Of Little Mix

As we know, Kamille works with a plethora of artists but she has the best connection with Little Mix. She began working with the girls back in 2013 for their sophomore album Salute and a long-term relationship was formed. She has written over 30 songs for them, which include six consecutive UK Top 5 albums and nine UK Top 20 singles. She also featured on their song ‘More Than Words’ on LM5 and the girls even refer to her as an unofficial member. Jade even commented on Instagram saying “We wouldn’t be where we are now in our career without this angel.”

Even though the girls are taking a break to focus on their solo works and motherhood, the friendship is still there and Kamille has even been working with Perrie on her future solo music. We’re obsessed with their bond!

She’s Been Releasing Her Own Music Since 2017

Kamille first released music as an artist back in 2017 with the song ‘Body’ featuring Avelino followed by her debut EP, My Head’s A Mess. She’s since released a number of songs that are criminally underrated, but are much loved by us here at THP! If you’re in a much-needed fix for Kamille’s music while you wait for the drop of K1, we’ve got some recommendations to satisfy your needs.

She has also featured on other artists’ songs such as previously mentioned Little Mix’s ‘More Than Words,’ Mabel’s ‘Selfish Love,’ Tiësto’s ‘What’s It Gonna Be,’ and Fred again..’s ‘Kammy (like i do).’

She’s An Independent Artist With Her Own Record Label

Kamille was once signed with a label but ended up being shelved after the person who signed her left the job position. “I thought the best thing I can do is just to keep writing my arse off, keep writing songs. I wrote a lot of different songs for a lot of different people,” she shares in a TikTok sharing her artist story. It was after meeting her now husband, Tomi who is also a producer that she decided to take things into her own hands. “During my first trimester of being pregnant, I decided I was gonna start producing and making my own music all by myself. And I did it!” This has led to Kamille making K1 which she is releasing independently. We are counting down the days until it’s released!

Back in November 2019, she officially launched her own record label and publishing company, Pure Cut, and cites Beyoncé as her inspiration. Speaking to Music Week, she explains: “Seeing the empire Beyoncé’s building now, it just cemented how I felt all along: that I want to be able to do that, and I want more for myself. I think that’s driven me.” We are honestly inspired by her drive and ambition.

Kamille is a multi-talented icon who has already made her mark in the songwriting world and is ready to carry that through to her own artistry. We absolutely adore her and cannot wait for this upcoming chapter of her career! Take it from us when we say it’s time to stan her before she truly takes off as an artist.

Time To Kill’ is out now. K1 is out September 9th.
