The Last Bookstore On Earth By Lily Braun-Arnold

The first January audiobook we have on our radar is The Last Bookstore on Earth by Lily Braun-Arnold! This YA debut tells the story of Liz Flannery, who’s been isolated at an abandoned bookstore since the first Storm devastated civilization. When news spread about a second Storm happening, Liz doesn’t know if the bookstore will hold up. That is, until she meets Maeve, a girl with the street smarts and skills to fix the store. The girls fight to survive, while also dealing with romantic feelings and complicated histories.

Everything Is Poison By Joy McCullough

Our next audiobook recommendation is Joy McCullough’s new novel, Everything is Poison. Imagine this: an apothecary in 17th-century Rome run entirely by women. Sixteen-year-old Carmela Tofana finally gets to work at her mother’s apothecary, learning how to mix remedies and other potions. The downside? She quickly discovers just how deadly their work can be. We loved being able to listen to this audiobook and hear the poems woven in between the chapters.

Water Moon By Samantha Sotto Yambao

The last January audiobook we’d like to share is Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao. This fantasy novel transports us to a pawnshop in Tokyo where one can sell their regrets and life choices. Hana Ishikawa inherits the pawnshop from her father, only to find him missing the day after. Hana soon meets a charming physicist offering his help in finding her father. But to do that, they must travel through a magical world where nothing is as it seems. Water Moon really got us at the ending, but that’s all we’ll say for now.
