Waking up last Friday, it seemed like any other day. But then we heard LISA’s new single ‘BORN AGAIN,’ and our day took a turn. We have to say that we never thought of this collaboration, even in our wildest dreams. However, both Doja Cat and RAYE bring their uniqueness as artists, making this song an absolute banger. We know for a fact that it is just not us who have been repeating the song on a loop since it came out.
The pop collaboration reminds us of Madonna in the early 2000s, which gives us such an empowering feeling. Also, RAYE took it to another level with her production, simultaneously giving us a song that feels nostalgic and fresh. The visions of the three singers fit perfectly, even though they are pretty different. One may think that having artists with distinct visions would result in a chaotic mix. However, ‘BORN AGAIN’ proves that music is a collaborative process.
A Match Made In Heaven!
Doja Cat’s part in the second verse gives us that groovy feeling that we love. Her creativity makes the song have different rhythms, which makes us feel like we are on a roller coaster. Returning to RAYE, her voice with soul influences brings the song’s emotions to the mix. We couldn’t be any more proud to see her shine. Last but not least, the star of the song is LISA, with the sweetness of her voice and how she carries her vocals through the track. Want the perfect mix? Bring these women back to the studio and record a whole album.
The music video by itself is a piece of visual art. Directed by Bardia Zeinali, the video has a lot of historical references. The Salem witch trials, Doja dressing up as Joan of Arc, and Eve eating the forbidden fruit are just a few of the references. The video’s aesthetic flows around the colors black and white, with the first as the main one. Visually, looking at the production of the video and the art direction, we have to say that we are witnessing one of the best videos of the decade.
Alter Ego is Coming…
By now, it should be clear that LISA’s career as a solo artist is showing us how versatile she can be. She’s showing a new side of herself and experimenting it’s the key to success. ‘BORN AGAIN’ with Doja Cat and RAYE is another hit that, besides ‘ROCKSTAR,’ ‘NEW WOMAN,’ and ‘MOONLIT FLOOR,’ is part of LISA’s sophomore album.
