Calling all adult rom-com lovers! We’re back with a dreamy new contemporary romance to add to your reading list: One in a Million by Beverley Kendall.
Introducing Whitney “Sahara” Richardson, an award-winning singer, actress, and fashion CEO who has everything planned. What she didn’t plan was a mix-up at the fertility clinic that would turn her into an unexpected mother.
We read One in a Million as a standalone, but it’s also the second book in Beverley Kendall’s Token series. And you better believe we ordered a copy of Token after finishing this one. Here are three things we love about Beverley Kendall’s One in a Million!
Book Overview: One In A Million

Content warning: divorce
Summary: World-famous Whitney “Sahara” Richardson is at the top of her game. With four Grammys, an Oscar nod, and a billion-dollar clothing line, her career is skyrocketing. Even her headline-grabbing dating life is looking up. And if everything goes as planned, marriage and children are just a few years away—and they will come in that order.
That is…until a mix-up at the fertility clinic where her eggs are stored puts the cart before the horse. Oops. Whitney suddenly has a daughter…whose biological father is reluctant to share her.
Whitney
That’s it. That’s the tweet. Whitney is such a lovable protagonist that we could easily root for since the beginning. It’s been a while since we’ve fallen in love with a main character so quickly. She’s down-to-earth and charming. She’s assertive and such a girlboss. We want to be like her when we grow up (minus the surprise baby, of course). Whitney is the definition of that girl, with a self-assured and magnetic personality!
Whitney and Myles’ Chemistry
Another thing we love about One in a Million is the chemistry between Whitney and Myles. Granted, they had a rough start because Myles wanted sole custody of Haylee. Nevertheless, Whitney continued visiting their daughter, learning how to be a parent, and building a connection. As the two of them grow closer, we couldn’t help but giggle at how clear the attraction was. Whitney may have fallen for him first, but Myles fell harder.
The Side Characters
The side characters, i.e., Whitney’s family, friends, and even coworkers are just one part of why we love One in a Million. Her whole support system has helped her become the women she is. We love seeing Kennedy and Aurora’s appearances throughout the book, as they were characters in Token. They come through when Whitney needs them most. Her cousin Chey is absolutely unfiltered and hilarious. Even when situations turned more serious, Whitney knew what to do and where to turn.
Beverley Kendall’s One in a Million treats us to a delightful contemporary romance with a charming cast of characters and romantic chemistry that reaches past the page.
One in a Million by Beverley Kendall comes out March 18th, and you can order a copy of it here!
