We are back! We have the best of what’s new in music to dissect with you! From the new Ariana Grande deluxe record to the new Maddie Zahm EP, there is something for everyone!
Maddie Zahm – (the angry part)
The moment is finally here! We have a new Maddie Zahm EP to gush about!
(the angry part) is a four-track masterclass in storytelling through the vessel of songwriting. As with all of Maddie’s discography, there is such raw emotion found in these four tracks, which makes for an EP where we would normally feel like we didn’t quite get enough feeling completely whole. We are, of course, hoping to see these tracks be a part of an even bigger story on an upcoming album, simply because we are always floored by anything Maddie creates. As of right now, our favorite song on the EP is ‘Cannibal.’ We have been listening and watching the music video on a loop.

Meghan Trainor – ‘All About That Bass’ (Remastered)
We have said it a million times and will say it a million more: Meghan Trainor is an absolute hitmaker. Since her debut, she has been releasing perfect pop ear candy. Somehow, it has been ten years since Meghan released her debut album, Title, which features one of the most recognizable songs of this century, ‘All About That Bass.’ For the tenth anniversary of Title, Meghan remastered ‘All About That Bass’ and has truly transported us back to being teenagers and listening to this song for the first time. If you haven’t listened to this record in a while, do yourself a favor and listen front to back! ‘3am’ and ‘Walkashame’ have been on repeat for us.

Wallows – More
We truly can never get enough of Wallows, so releasing an EP not even a year after releasing their last album, Model, pleases our ears greatly. We remember the day Wallows posted about their debut single, and to look at the artists they were then and compare that to the artists we have watched them evolve into, the artists who made a record like one of our new favorites, ‘Hide It Away,’ has been the greatest joy. More is a compilation of all three of the band members’ biggest strengths as musicians and makes for a fan’s dream record.

Ariana Grande – eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead
We could write a novel on how much we loved this visual project and the deluxe tracks thatbrighter days ahead have brought us. If there was any doubt (which seems impossible given her discography) that Ariana Grande has a great relationship with her pen (and that it just keeps improving), this deluxe album blows that out of the water. When you add on the visuals, which are so reflective, hopeful, and creative, it just adds to the magic that already surrounds this record.

The Driver Era – ‘I’d Rather Die’
In what we are assuming is either the last or second-to-last song, we will get as a preview of the upcoming album, Obsession, from The Driver Era, ‘I’d Rather Die’ has moved itself up to a top-three song of their entire discography for us. We found ourselves not moving on after our initial listen and just continuing to find new things to love, even with the track only being slightly over two minutes long; that is all they needed to craft a song we would put up there with ‘Scared of Heights’ and ‘Endlessly’ as our all-time favorites.

Lyn Lapid – ‘death wish’
Lyn Lapid is an artist all of you need to make sure you’re adding to your playlists! We first fell in love with Lyn’s artistry in 2021 with ‘Infinite’ and have been truly blown away by the artist that she has become that you see on ‘death wish.’ Everything from her storytelling to how the tracks sound sonically keeps getting stronger with every release. Lyn’s upcoming album, BUZZKILL, is out in a little under a month, and just out of the songs we’ve heard so far is clearly enough to turn anyone into a fan for life.

JESSIA – ‘Moved Around You’
JESSIA may have just put out her best song yet. We are that serious about our love for ‘Moved Around You.’ ‘Moved Around You’ comes into the picture after a relationship has ended, and you’re reflecting on all the ways you are proud of how you conducted yourself in that relationship. How you expressed emotions and how you’ve healed afterward. The songwriting present here shows that JESSIA is only forming a stronger and stronger relationship with her pen, and we can’t wait to see where that takes her.

Maren Morris – ‘carry me through’
Maren Morris is actively making the best music of her career; she truly just keeps getting better. We thought, after listening to Humble Quest, that it would forever be our favorite Maren Morris project, but after listening to ‘carry me through,’ and knowing that the entirety of the Intermission EP is on the record, we are convinced that D R E A M S I C L E could surpass that album for us. Both the songwriting and Maren’s soft yet powerful vocals are at their best here on ‘carry me through.’

Kesha – ‘YIPPEE-KI-YAY’ (ft. T-Pain)
New Kesha music right before we fully transition into spring-summer could not be more perfect timing. Kesha is one of our long-time go-to artists for a feel-good song, be it a party song like ‘TiK ToK’ or a sun-soaked track like ‘YIPPEE-KI-YAY.’ Kesha’s upcoming album is a little over three months away, and we can already tell this is going to be a record that takes us right back to the days of first hearing early Kesha music.

Niall Horan – Heartbreak Weather ( 5 Year Anniversary Edition)
Heartbreak Weather is still an album we go back to all of the time, so any chance to gush about it, we will take it!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been five years since ‘Black and White’ and ‘Small Talk’ came into our lives! This album was, at its core, Niall Horan actualizing who he was as a solo artist. Flicker had been out for three years, which, while incredible, was playing with genre a bit more than what we would see on future albums and trying to find what sound felt the most authentic for Niall. Heartbreak Weather felt like he had honed in on that fully. Getting to revisit these songs and have new tracks to engulf ourselves in is the perfect way to celebrate such a special era.
