It’s been six years since Billie Eilish released her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, and shocked the world. Woah, time flies! We can’t believe it’s been six years since we became Billie stans, and we’re forever grateful that we did. To celebrate this monumental moment for Billie, we’re going back to 2019 and pressing rewind on all our favorite moments from this iconic era that we’ll never forget.
“The Billie Eilish Experience” – The Album Release Party
If you know, you know. The official album release for Billie’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, was everywhere on the internet in 2019 and gave us some of our favorite Billie moments to date. We would have done anything to be there at that moment! The album release party actually lasted three days and was open to the public in Los Angeles, California. It was completely immersive, and if you’re a Billie fan, you know that everything she does has some sort of immersive quality – whether that be visually or sonically (or both!).
There were 14 rooms – one room for each song on the album. Iconic, to say the least! A bonus? Fans also got one of their fave Billie looks from this night – a colorful graffiti-like XLV jumpsuit. Too iconic.
Billie’s Room
It’s not our house, but we know our way around. Billie’s OG bedroom was bathed in red LED lighting and was the epicenter for everything fan-related in 2019. Yes, this was an actual replica of her real bedroom with the iconic XLV bed curtains. Although her website no longer looks like this, we hold Billie’s room in a special place in our hearts.
Billiechella 2019
A moment for the history books in every type of way. Everyone remembers where they were when this happened…
The album had just come out, and Billie was set to perform it on the big Coachella stage. Even though there were a few hiccups, this set goes down in the Billie fandom history. We got to hear faves like ‘all the good girls go to hell,’ ‘wish you were gay,’ and ‘bury a friend.’ To this day, we always go back to these performances and reminisce.
The 2020 GRAMMY Awards
You just had to be there. There’s no talking about When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? without mentioning its accumulation of awards, especially at the 2020 GRAMMYs. In total, Billie’s debut album received 5 awards in all the major categories – Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Our girl did that!
She also did a stunning performance of ‘when the party’s over’ which brought everyone to tears. Seeing Billie walk away with her hands full made our hearts even fuller. This was such a proud moment to be a Billie stan!
Simply put, anything that 2019 Billie did went down in history. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is one of those albums that we’ll never forget, and this year, we’re celebrating its sixth anniversary!
