Post Animal, the Chicago-born psych and prog rock five-piece band comprised of Dalton Allison, Jake Hirshland, Javier Reyes, Wesley Toledo, and Matt Williams – announce their new studio album IRON and lead single ‘Last Goodbye.‘ When Post Animal started recording their album IRON, it marked the first time all six original members had been in the studio together in nearly a decade. In 2017, Joe Keery left the band to concentrate on his acting career and has since released music under the name ‘Djo.’
‘Last Goodbye’ Official Visualizer
‘Last Goodbye‘ features a gentle acoustic sound, complemented by a tasteful electric guitar and a steady drum beat. It creates the sensation of driving in the open sun, with your hair blowing in the wind. The lyrics convey a story about change. They emphasize that it’s sometimes okay to say goodbye to the life you once had, but not to forget your roots and where you came from. The harmonies from each member blend beautifully, making it a truly healing listening experience.
Now I’m racing for what to do
All roads lead me right back to you
I know my life’s been changing
But I’ll be pacing back on the road again
Joe Keery Reunites with Post Animal for the making of IRON
In 2024, Post Animal reconnected as six musicians wanting to create new music together, after many hardships and relocating across the country. They spent their time creating “IRON” in the woods of Indiana, which only deepened their friendships. The album signifies their renewed bond with Joe Keery’s return, featuring contributions from each member and alternating lead vocals. Engineered by Dalton Allison and Charles Glanders, mixed by Adam Thein and Allison, and mastered by Jared Hirshland.
“This record felt like a revitalization of our friendships and our band,” Jake Hirshland says. “We always work collaboratively, but it’s amazing how reintroducing Joe into the mix brought back that dynamic from 2017.”
Post Animal is currently on a fully sold-out U.S. tour with their bandmate Djo, continuing throughout North America and the UK/EU this year. Along with the single release, Post Animal also announces a five-piece headline tour this November. Get your tickets here when they go on sale!
